Good Story!
Headed out last night for a quick couple drops and ran into some fellow hunters. A man was just coming into where I was heading. I had never seen him before and stopped to talk to him.
We ended up agreeing to head out for a drop or two together. The older gentleman was running a young mountain cur dog. Turns out he lives just down the road from me and has run hounds/curs his whole life. I never knew it! He said how he has gotten away from hounds due to his age.
So we cut loose and soon after my dog struck in and a bit later ended up treeing a good ways off. The man said it was no problem to walk into her when we could've drove. He said how much he enjoyed hearing a hound run a good track and tree.
Boy old Belle put on a show for him and treed that coon in style while I was worried she was gonna embarrass the heck outta me!
It was really nice to meet up with a kind man like I did last night and see him enjoy the hunt. I think it made his night to run a hound again after some of the stories I heard from him.
It's just plain nice to go out meet someone in the pitch dark, make friends, and have a nice hunt! Last night showed what kind of good people there are out there coon hunting! I look forward to meeting up with this man again and doing some hunting!

It is truly a blessing when something like that happens, it never hurts to be able to just enjoy the fellowship and listen to a dog do what it was born to. When it does, just how many of the people out there accept it for what it is, and enjoy the time like the old guys and their fathers before them. When coon hunting was just coon hunting and nothing more, no titles on the line, no money waiting at the club, just bragging rights at the fire for a little while.
awesome!
What a Nice story! Hope it is just the first of many for you and this new friend.
HAPPYHUNTING! Heather and Bob
