The Wounded Knee Massacre

Lets not forget this day December 29th 1870 when the United States Army murderd young women and children.

Posted by Custer syndrome on 12-17-2007 11:08 PM:

It was not the first or the last.

In 1973 Wounded Knee was held for 71 days by members of AIM.

The Federal Government tried to stop that movement and failed. Held at bay for 71 embarrasing days and chastised in the news every day of it. Bringing on a new era of Native rights which has broken there hold on Native policy and brought there past shame to new light.

Wounded Knee will be the begining of a new Native era. Those who died there will forever be held as marters.

Sometimes you loose the battle but win the war.

Yadkin river and the rest of you that are turning this into a slap in the face to a group of people whos land was literaly taken from them,SHAME ON YOU.My wifes great grandmother survived Wounded Knee by hiding in a wood pile while her friends and family were mowed down because of their beliefs. Our government has done things to the Indians that compare to what Saddam did to the Iraq's and he got hung for it.

I stand by my earlier comment.

We did a lot of things wrong building this country.

That being said, I still stand by my earlier comment.

This was an unfortunate event. However, all nations faced this same type of thing. It's part of building a country. The strong take from the weak, the organized from the unorganized, the civilized from the uncivilized. It might not be right, but it might be necesary. Don't criticize the methods that allow you the freedoms you have now. It's been over a hundred years, time to let it go.

I wish them all a Merry Christmas also...

But getting back to the actual post Trapper posted:

"The Pioneer has before declared that our only safety depends upon the total extermination of the Indians. Having wronged them for centuries, we had better, in order to protect our civilization, follow it up by one more wrong and wipe these untamed and untamable creatures from the face of the earth. In this lies future safety for our settlers and the soldiers who are under incompetent commands. Otherwise, we may expect future years to be as full of trouble with the redskins as those have been in the past." Jan 1891

Same old BS the people have shoved down our throats till this very day. The white man came and took a country from the indians, with force. You know its funny, that on this board there are those who put down the mexicans because they 'are taking over', getting 'free welfare' and yada yada yada yada. Well I guess you know now how the indians felt, but you never stop to think of that. All I can say is the indians needed better boarder security, or was that texas that said that?

Again Merry Christmas to every troop we have, but it still doesnt change the facts.

reparations, reparations and more reparations....we wouldn't be here if this event that happened LONG AGO, directly affected anyone living today.

Lets also not forget every other day that the UNITED STATES ARMY fought for your right to bad mouth them!! GOD BLESS the UNITED STATES ARMY, AIR FORCE, NAVY, and MARINES and I wish them ALL A MERRY CHRISTMAS.

INDEED !

Progress towards a civilzed world isn't a bad thing.

There is no statute of limitations on murder. It matters not that it happened long ago, only that it happened.

It will be the death of a nation and the rebirth of another.

We still hold claim to the sacred Black Hills. Even your government believes in that truth. They have admited to the crimes that happened at Wounded Knee, stopping short or returning them. Offering instead compensation worth $600 million today, but still remains unclaimed. We will regain those sacred hills and a new nation will be born.

It is the fate of an empire to crumble from within. This one will crumble like all those before it.

I think it is important for a country to remember and reflect on it's mistakes. There's no way around it, the way we treated the Indians was a mistake. To acknowledge that is in no way a slap in the face to our military today. As far as it's just the strong defeating the weak..... that's a great philosophy, not one Jesus is into and I hope not one stronger people then me are into.

trapper,custer,travis,

what you dont understand is that this board is full of people who arent for hunters rights but for THIER OWN HUNTING RIGHTS. sorry that you thought you would get any sympathy from this crowd. wouldnt be like them to respect free people or warriors.

kill 'em all , let the reichties sort em out!

Posted by Ralph Williams on 12-18-2007 01:06 PM:

truly

Let me tell you something! I never said I did not respect warriors. What do you think that the ARMED FORCES are? Do you have ANY idea why you are FREE?? I do, it is because of people like my DAD( V.VET.) who did not hide or move to Canada, but insted he joined the Army to help keep people like you and Trapper, Custer, and Travis FREE
