New Camera

We just recently upgraded to a better camera and since I was bored thought I would go out and take a few pics. Since it was around 40 degrees the dogs were all in the houses so I decided to take a few of good ol Mother Nature. It is just wonderful to be able to simply step outside and in virtually any direction I look have a most beautiful view of the changing colors. Wish I had taken some 2 days ago before lots of the leaves blew off. Here are several pix shot from various different areas around my property.

This barn is 542yrd according to lazer rangefinder beyond the two trees in the second pic below.

These were shot across my yard with our small fishin pond that my son enjoys so well. My favorite pic is the one from the other side of the pond with my house in the background.

These were form the far side of my pasture. My neighbor owns the silo and is wanting to tear it down. That silo has been there for as long as myself or my wife can remember. I would hate to see this landmark go down but what can you do. The other pics here was shot out the upstairs window of our house back torward the silo and across the pasture. You can still see the spot in the second pic where my dads mower burnt.

Now I know these aint good ol hound pics but I thought some might want to take a bit and enjoy Mother Nature and what she has to offer.

THANK YOU!

What a perfect day for you to do this! Rainy and cool here... really miserable! Sitting in here with hounds I just dried off from a miserable potty break.... and I came in to be delighted by beautiful scenery!
Your place is beautiful! Rolling hills, nice trees, water, nice home and that silo. Too bad things have to change...hope the neighbor decides to leave it up.

Well thanks VERY much for brightening MY day!

Happy Hunting! Heather

silo coming down??

Those silo staves are handy for making walkways or stacked for retaining walls. When they drop one down lots of them will crack but there's lots of usable ones. Will the neighbor let you use them? Can you tell I hate to see things get wasted? lol

willseeyalater= I'm like you. Waste stinks. We have a few "recycled" house parts here. We got a few cool old doors. I forget what else...I wanted old recycled floors...but we went broke partway thru our "renovation"...LOL... laminate will do for now.....

Hope we get to see many more nice pix! With and without hounds.... it'll be a long winter...Sigh.... LOL!

bigcastle, one of the prettiest floors I ever laid my eyes on was featured on DIY on evening a couple months ago. They were renovating an old bed and breakfast type farmhouse and the barn that was on the property was on its last leg so they decided to take the lumber from the barn, plain it down, cut tongue and grooves in it and refinish it with a natural finish and it was absolutely beautiful. I really didnt think I would like it when they first started taling about what they had in mind with 6or8" planks, I thought that was way too wide. Boy was I wrong. I have always thought hardwood foors were pretty but this was completely awesome. When we decided to build our house I took something I remembered seeing on that show and we implemented it here and that was seeing the knots in the floor. That was what really set that floor off. Thats why we chose the seconds in the hardwood for our house. The price was just a bonus but having some knots in the wood gave our floor a little more character and real feel to the wood and dont get me wrong seconds are pretty clean run too but there was just the right amount of "natural blemishes" that we both loved and thats what we went for.

willseeya, I wish there was a way that I could just have it lifted to my property. I know there will never be another crop put in there but it is a piece of the history that goes along with the community here and I hate to see it go. Havent heard him say anything about it in a while and I know none of the other folks round here want to see it go either. I know of at least 4 including myself that has tried to talk with him about keeping it till it at least deteriorates to where it is a hazzard so maybe he could reconsider, who knows.

Floors....

...Sigh... Some day....
I wont watch those shows any more...LOL... I love a floor with character and LOVE wide plank floors.
Our Moneypit... has been divorce material...LOL... we love what's done but we love each other more. Our Castle Someday....it'll be finished. BUT... then we'll sell this sucker and buy LAND and a small shack.... The kids are already moving out!LOL.... I'll have to change my name though if we ever move... littleshackDAWGS just doens't sound as good!

I hope that you all have convinced the neighbor to leave the Silo... We lose SO much agriculture, natural open lands etc.... Little pieces like that are GEMS!

Heather

Here is a pic of a doe in my yard just a few minutes ago. While I was sitting here dinkin on the computer just happened to look out the window and she was feeding out behind the garage about 50yrds. By the time I snuck out to the truck and got the camera and back inside without spooking her I managed to get a few pics of her as she had sashayed to the back of the field still feeding. She was about 300yrds here in the pics though.
