Treeing Cur bann
Once again, I ask that everyone know this is correct and I will be attending the meeting. I have the Purpose and Objects of this association that state that beyond competing Curs and Feists in competition that..."Equally as important in purpose is to make every effort to draw closer together the various groups of Cur and Feist dogs and the various individuals who breed and /or hunt these types of dogs for a more friendly and harmonious relationship among one another"
No where does it say to police the breeds. That is up to breed associations but more importantly the registries. UKC will kick back your papers if your pics show your 1/2 hound 1/2 cur to be too houndy. I recommend the 2 pics to be attached to NKC forms also and it is stated on their form. If they don't kick them back then how is that the whole Treeing Cur breed's problem? If a breed inspector signs off on a dog that is a hound as a cur then they should have their license pulled.
The meeting is at noon this Sunday November 4th at Gander Mtn north of Indianapolis. Take I-465 North to exit 35 - allisonville rd, north 1/4 mile to 86th st. then east 1/4 mile. I will be there. Do not take just my word, come and see for yourself and be informed. Also know that this is not an action that will promote what this association was founded upon and know that next year is an election year. You make your decisions, don't let anyone else...not even me. Take in the information and act accordingly.
If you would like to talk to me my cell is 636-288-4537 and home is 636-671-0609, or call Claude Thomas 812-665-3263 , Chuck Berry (vice pres) 765-477-6643 or Steve Baker 419-363-3475. If you belong to this association you have every right to know what is going on.
I also will propose my measure, "That any change affecting by-laws, Charter Breed Associations or a majority of the membership be publicized in Full Cry. The vote shall also be one of a mail in ballot to reach all members not just a few who can attend the meeting.
As it is now changes may be made by 2/3 majority vote of those members present and voting at any annual meeting of the association. That is this weekend. If I had not found out about this, then I wouldn't have been present nor would I have been able to make this known to you so you can be present. It would have been slipped through.
I have left a call for Del Morgan to call me. This is a NKC sanctioned association and he should know what is on the table. He after all registers the dogs that hunt there.
Thank you for reading...Amy Kovac-Thomas

Throughout History,
Hasnt the Cur Dog, been Different Versions of Mixed Hunting dogs?
Some Part Hound, Some Had a little Bird Dog in them, Just hunting dogs, that were used by our forefathers, for a variety of purposes, from bringing the cows in, to treeing and baying game.
I can understand, however maintaining some standards, as to the looks of a Cur.
