severe head tilt
I have an 11 month old male that has developed a severe head tilt. He got sick about 6 weeks ago my buddy took him to the vet had him on IV's for about a week and never could figure out what was wrong, vet told him to put him down so he was brought home and cared for. Finally got him to start eating on his own and he was brought to my house where he could get my exercise and pick up some weight. Outside of being unsteady on his feet seemed to be doing alot better till this past week when the head tilt started. Took him to a different vet and they were clueless as well but seemed to think it might be a tick born disease gave me doxycycline & prednisone. Anyone have any idea what I might be dealing with? Thanks
bad
inner ear infection can cause this symptom. but i'm guessing the vet checked for that..

thanks Jeff I'll look those up and see if I can figure anything out my beagle came down with ehrliciosis earlier this year but we caught it quick and he never got that bad
Did he just get sick or could he have been bumped by a car or pissed off neighbor?
he just got sick but he was hunting on Ft Knox and I've heard tales about other dogs coming down with some crazy illness after hunting there, tested negative for poisoning

Head tilt
I agree with the inner ear infection. I took one to the vet week before last that had a severe head tilt and could not walk without falling down. the vet checked her out and said that everything looked okay but explained that it could be an inner ear infection since you are not able to actually see the inner ear. he put her on amoxicillian and said that it could take up to three weeks to see if that was the problem and that it could be sooner depending on the dog. She responded quickly and started back hunting last Saturday. She still has a little head tilt and the vet said that her head may never completely be normal again but it does not seem to affect her at all.
