there is not one best wormer. what worms are you going after? Generally there are three types of worms people go after.
1 intestional (hooks, whips, round)
2 heartworms
3 tape (diplidum, tanea)
you can buy specific wormers for each type and there are also some broad spectrum wormers they may get 2out of 3 and sometimes all 3 groups.
when buying wormers you need to look more at the active ingriedent than a brand name so that you can be more specific on the application.
here are a few examples
rounds use pyrantel pomate
rounds hooks whips use febendazol
heart worms round and hooks ivomec
tapes prazinquental
there are wormers that contain 2 or more of these active ingriedents but you have to read the labels.
I use cattle ivomec as a monhly heartworm preventive. In addition about every 3 months I will alternate febendazole for 3 days or an ivomec/prazinquental combo (found in some paste horse wormers.
please note my spelling may be a bit off.
Advantage multi work real good
wormer
Imovic ....Zimectrin Gold...
SafeGaurd every three months for Hook, Whip, Tape, and Round worms.
IVOMEC once a month for heartworms.

i like panacure for worms and then ivermec for heart worms
Safeguard and Panacur are the same... Fenbendazole
This is what I use for general intestinal parasites (rounds, hooks and whips) It must be given 3 days in a row. I do this every 3 months. It come in canine, horse, goat etc. I have found it more economical to give the goat wormer, but the canine is the easiest to use.
I give ivermectin 1% solution once per month for heartworm prevention. 1/10 cc per 10 pounds of body weight.
I treat tapes on an as needed basis (whenever they show up in the stool) with praziquantal. Fenbendazole advertises that it gets tapes, but it only gets one species.
For young pups I worm with Pyratel Pamoate (Nemix) simply because it is easy and requires only one dose per treatment.
