Pups on self feeder???
For those of you that use self feeders, at what age do you start a pup out on a self feeder?
I know someone knows... these pups are almost 9 weeks old. I wanted to go ahead and start them on a self feeder... is that to early?
Go ahead
and start them. I start them soon as they can eat dry food. Then remove it about 6 months old.

3 weeks. I don't put much out at that age because they won't eat hardly any. They don't get weaned for another week or two. But they do get to smell it and taste it and are good to go when they are weaned. I put only a small amount out at that time and replace it daily.

Well, I just went ahead and put on out. Didn't take them long to figure it out. I figure they'll be fine on it.
Just about every litter of pups I've raised have eaten out of auto feeders. Alot of times they will be eating out of the feeders before you know it. I think they are the best way to feed pups.

I AGREE. ALL OF OUR PUPS ARE RAISED ON AUTOMATIC FEEDERS.

yes sir but if she is like me scramble it give
her the left over tater skins after supper
If you feed a high quality pupp food you don't need anything more.
My pups usually stop eating wet food on their own once they start eating out of the auto feeder.

Same here.
As soon as they can eat out of it which is usually around 6 weeks old. When they see momma do it, they do it. Never take them off unless I am doing something different for a particular show or hunt.

I am certainly feeding a high quality feed, please don't take this little discussion and try and second guess what I am feeding my pups!!
If I or blueticking: it wants to feed a pup a dag gum egg then that is our decision, it has nothing to do with what feed the pups get fed!
Thanks!
