Hadn't heard that, but sounds reasonable...but if you wash where the bites are with old-fashioned lye soap, it will stop the itching. doubt anyone really makes lye soap anymore, but sometimes can pick it up at craft shows, etc.
Vick
ICY HOT works real well also
ya know...I dont even know what a chigger is. Some kind of flea like bug?
I'm Itchy
DARN I HATE these posts!
Chiggers are tiny, six-legged wingless organisms (larvae) that grow up to become a type of insect called a mite. Chiggers are found in tall grass and weeds. Their bite causes severe itching.
Chiggers are found in the southern part of the United States and in other countries. They are usually restricted to certain areas such as berry patches, tall grass and weeds, and woodland edges. The chiggers bite humans around the waist, ankles, or in warm skin folds.
The itching usually occurs several hours after the chiggers attach to the skin. The chigger can sometimes be seen in the center of a red, pimple-like bump that has not been scratched.
Calamine lotion, antihistamines and the steroid skincreams are used to get rid of the itch.... but just waiting it out is what you have to do.
Yuck...I'm itchy Yuck....

never heard of using vicks vapor rub, but i do know that clear finger nail polish put on a chigger bite will smother them out also.
