To Bench Show and Night Hunt Judges

I'm not sure when the Bench Shows and the Night Hunts became the "events" they are today. When I first started going to clubs and participating in all the functions, it wasn't whether you won or lost, it was "the dog closest to the breed standard", the dog who treed the most "coons" and the dog who could stand on the side of the tree and rack off 60 to 80 barks a minute in the treeing contest. Now, all you hear is about the cheating and the judges that pick cow-hocked or post-legged dogs just because they belong to their "buddies". I have seen way more of that than I care to recently. I don't even like to carry my grandson's to the club anymore because of what they see and hear. The "family" has been deleted from the "family" sport. The sportsmanship that was once a big part of the sport has been replaced with back-stabbing, cheating and lying. The changes have to start at the center of the hunt and bench show. These judges must uphold their titles and do away with the rift-faff or they too will fall on their faces in the end. Honesty has always been the best policy, too bad we don't see enough of that any more. To those who do their best to be the honest judges I commend you, those who don't, I don't want to stand by you during a lightening storm.

what was well said,i'm sure what you have seen and heard is in the minority . the majority of the shows i have been in and the hunts i have been in were all lots of fun anda good time had by all.
my grand daughter is new to showing hounds and everyone including the judges and the competition have been super in teaching her and helping her at 10 years old she has come to realize that winning or loseing makes no differance as long as she tries her best and has a good time doing it.
yes i have had cast members try to twist the rules to suit themselves but this can only happen if you let it happen

lol...

I think thats it more of an isolated problem.... there are some clubs that i will not attend because of what was stated above goes on..... But there are also alot of clubs that i love going to because everyone is nice and doesnt matter who wins or loses.

you're right there, there are a few clubs I still enjoy going to. I visited your web page and I must say that I am duly impressed. You have a wide range of colors in your hunting crew. I too have seen some "grade dogs" that are really awesome in the woods. They don't have to have "titles" to be "great" dogs. Sometime when you're in our area, let us know, we may be able to get together for a hunt.

This is Chris T wife and I show dogs along with my husband he shows lead and hunts him we are down in MO and it seems like Mo people do not like plots we are having a hard time placing the dogs. I just started my pup . I was wondering if it only happened around here or not . So it is nice to know that it is happening in other places. Although it should not be like that .
