Almost Lost A Good One Today
Here in Carolina it sure has been HOT!!! Today my redbone "PR Greene's Harvest Time Rusty had a heat stroke. As of 8pm he is doing some better but still in ICU at the vets and still not out of danger. This is been a very hard day cause my dogs are like my kids.I check my dogs several times a day and even though their in a kennel and have plenty of water and shade, they said nothing could have stopped it.So please, keep a close check on your dogs.Keep them plenty of water and the vet said to spray them down some to keep them cool.If your like me,this is hard to swallow and I dont want none of you to experience this.Take care and MAY GOD BLESS YOU & YOURS!!

WOW, I hope your dog pulls through! I dont need to up north here, but I've heard if ya freeze a gatorade container of water, and screw the lid on tite and put it in their house, they'll cuddle up with it all day to keep cool in areas where it's super hot. Mine would probably chew it to bits but they'd keep cool while doing it lol.
We have broke records a few days this week...Man its hot. Has been over 100 everyday. Heat index is around 105 to 110... Said some parts of south ga has had near 120 heat index this week. We need a break in this weather.

I have chain link pens and have a box fan attached to each kennel blowing on them. I one fan up higer that blow to the outside. It still hot, but at least the air is moving. I keep the fans year round only cutting them off it gets really cold at night & during the winter months.
I've seen bandit back up to his fan to keep his bum cool!
I also got out the kiddie pool (got to get a new one, has a small hole in it). most of the dogs will either drink out of it or stand in it to cool off. I put fresh water in it every 2 days and top it off every day.
glad to hear
your hound has recovered.
I recommend feeding ice cubes. Mine loves them.
You'd be surprised how long a large block of ice will last in the heat. WE used to store ice all summer in an ice house/barn--just blocks of ice and sawdust.
