Mean spirited mail!!!!!!!!

The Atherton family was out of the pocket this last week enjoying the wilds of Michigan's north woods.

After getting home, we have a ton of chores to do ... ya know like picking the dogs up, laundry, unpacking, and more laundry. Well, I finally get to the bag of mail, and what do I find??????

I find a membership letter to AARP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One would think they could at least wait until I am ready to admit I am even middleaged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man, mean mail stinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that summer is almost over, my attention is finally going to be back to the dogs. I need to charge my light, and then I am going hunting. Anyone interested in cutting somedogs loose drop me a line.

LOL

Larry,

If we do drop you a line.....the real question is THIS.

Since you are a member of the AARP, should we increase the size of the font on the letter so that you can read it easier?

Sorry couldn't resist.

Hoosier

AARP

i know this post was made in humor, but i have to take the opportunity to point out that AARP is a know contributor to anti-gun organizations.
i realize there are benefits w/ the AARP, but i encourage all you old folk to please not support them!!

They sent me a letter and I wrote back and asked why they were such an anti- gun organization? they never answered me. They are big contributors to the anti gun prople, can't figure how this helps old people?

Posted by Larry Atherton on 08-14-2007 03:52 PM:

Strokin, I am pretty sure ya have just about as much gray as I do so ya should tread lightly.lol

Hoosier, nope not a member and I don't "Aim" to be. As far as the font is concern I am still ok. Thanks for your concern ... I think.

Wildbill, yep figure I ain't old till I feel old and don't figure I will need a senior cast for many years to come.

The light is charged and I am heading west tonight to a familiar river bottom.

Boy Larry, I know how uopset you got when you opened your box and saw that nasty little letter.

Fortunately for you, you did not get a look at the Carrier that day, he was riding a horse!

Tell us the truth how many decades ago did you recieve this phantom letter? lol

For the record, I was nowhere in the vicinity of your house on the day in question.

Thanks Curtis!!!!!!LOL

The boys and I went last night. Tracking conditions weren't great, but we treed one and holed another along a creek bank. We were out just long enough to get soaking wet with sweat, and I don't remember a stretcher or wheel chair ... but hey ... it was last night and my memory may be fading already.lol

I like it when the funeral homes call and want you to pre-arrange. Do they know something I need to know?

Larry, I know exzctly how you feel. A few weeks ago after a VERY hard day in this heat, I suffered a heat stroke and was taken to the hospital. The attending Dr. suggested that "my age" may have played a part in the situation. Being only 73, this did make me just a little mad. Was wondering just how he(probably 45) would handle it.

Aging(in most cases) barring illness, is usually controlled by the mind. Most of us coon hunters are stuck in our teens. LOL

Posted by Emily on 08-17-2007 06:55 PM:

know how you feel

I've been getting those AARP letters for a couple years now...

Made my reservation for an Autumn Oaks hotel room today, and the Holiday Inn only had a handicapped room left. I asked if I had to prove I was handicapped to get it and the young lady on the phone asked me how old I was. Nope, I didn't need to prove I was handicapped, and I could keep my "service" dog (the hound) in the room! : )

You going to Autum Oaks?

Those younger gals that let on about gray whiskers being sexy know that gray means harmless and the retirement checks will soon be in their name. Go ahead and enjoy life they will be soon.

Posted by walkercash on 08-17-2007 08:37 PM:

Larry I have been trying to tell you for how long you are old? I even got a nasty email for it! lol

It took AARP for you to finnaly realize what your friends have been trying to say!
