Tracker System?

IS THERE A UNIT OUT THERE THAT U COULD ACTUALLY FIND A DOG THAT WAS IMOBILE (EX. SNARE OR IN A WELL) & NOT BARKING? IF U DIDN'T KNOW WHICH SIDE OF THE ROAD IT WAS ON IT'S NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL. THE SIGNAL IS THE SAME DIRECTLY TOWARDS THE DOG & DIRECTLY THE OTHER WAY.(EX.NORTH & SOUTH ) AND YES IT'S WORKING RIGHT AND BEING USED RIGHT. THANKS

I have a Johnson system and that wouldn't be any trouble at all. I've never had to find a dog in that type of situation, but when I first got it I'd have someone drive off with a collar and hide it somewhere and then I'd go out and find it. I use the yagi to get into the general area, as you get closer you fold the antenna arms down ...when you're real close you use just the coax cable as your antenna..just unplug it from the yagi and hold it out and move it back and forth watching your needle bump. You can be very accurate this way. Keep in mind, in the real world you probably will never, or hopefully never need to do this. I prefer to never even have to get the tracker out of the truck!Good luck.

You might need to practice some with your system. Or get a quicktrack.I have a quicktrack and can find mine most anywhere. If you turn it down low enough and in some cases unhook the antenna. Its only going to track best one way. I pinpointed mine one night way up in a hole on the creek bank. Tracked right to a spot on top of him about 50 feet from the bank. Got shovels and started digging. The system was dead on.Dug right down on top off him....He was not moving or barking anymore..

if your getting a strong signel

both ways try unhooking your antena and see if you still can get a signal and go with the strongest direction given. this should work hopefully..........good luck getting your dogs back

practise

bin using it for bout 15 years, it has folding ant. 4 arms fold out from underneath .we could try folding them in an try for a signal be the same as unhooking ant. i guess, give that a try.

Get a Marshall they have a dog down mode on every collar, it lets you know if the dog is immobil or dead

Try tracking from a couple places should figure it out from one place or the other.

BUY A JOHNSON SYSTEM AND THROUGH THAT TOY AWAY! ROFL

If i'm having trouble pinpointing most times if you just turn the gain down it will help.Don't seem to have as much trouble with my Quick Track as i used to with the Wildlife.The ATS i had was the best for range but the worst for trying to pinpoint.

Roger, I was talking to Ronnie and he figures it might be because of the mini antenna. I have had the same problem when the dog is close. It may be easier to pinpoint with the yagi but then you have to half take your receiver apart. Not very convenient. (mine is a wildlife as well)
