Breeding Question???

I have a question. Some people have told me 2 different things. When breeding do hounds have to knot up or get stuck together to breed?

depends on if the male watched a lassie video first and how fast the male shoots his load,,lol..

serious,i had a male start knoting before he got all the way in and had to hold them together ,was only able to hold them for about 1 minute, didnt have anyone to help hold them, didnt get to breed her again before she went out, caught her on her way in heat i think ,but she did have 1 pup...so anythings possable

You can hold them if possible if he doesn't knot in the female but if he doesn't it ain't good! Knotting is the only way that I would even consider a female being successfully breed!

he may be too hyper,,best to take him hunting and wear him down some and put him in the lot with her when you get back from hunting ,,
some dogs may need a little guildence to hit the spot before they miss and preknot..he may need some help.,,
try tieing the female to a wall or fence so she cant move around so he dont have trouble with her moveing on him..
some things to think about if you really want this male to breed the female.

I NEVER LEAVE THE FEMALES IN THE LOT WITH MY MALE I ALWAYS TAKE THE FEMALE TO HIS PEN AND LET HIM BREED HER THEN PUT HER BACK IN HIS PEN THAT WAY YOU KNOW WHAT DAY HE GOT HER AND ALSO IF YOU LEAVE HER IN THE PEN HE WILL WEAR HIS SELF OUT TRYING TO GET HER AND WHEN HE DOES FINALYT HIT THAT SPOT HE MAYBE TO WORE OUT TO FINISH THE JOB

your chances of getting pups without them knotting up is possible but not likely.
