Fire Ant's

What effect does fire ants have on living, and feeding, conditions of your hounds???
This hot dry weather; sure Is heaven for fire ants around Puzzle Gulley.

ANTS !

I don't know what kind they are, but we have those little tiny black ones EVERYWHERE ! They have gotten real bad in the last couple of weeks. We noticed that our seven month old gyp that stays in the house at night and kennel during the day, had welps on her when we would let her out in the afternoon. They looked like skeeter bites. Drove us crazy for a couple of days.We never would see a thing in the pen or on her. I am off work on Fridays and I always take care of them in the same manner as the rest of the week. After feeding them first thing that Friday morning. I thought I would get her out for a walk. Her food bowl was covered in these little black ants. It had only been 30 min. to an hour after feeding her. I looked in her coat and found ants on her. It has been a battle with these nasty little creatures. We have to kennel her during the day and it has been tuff to find something that will kill them and keep them from coming back that will not harm her. The little bites itch her like crazy. At night we have been spraying the bites with Benadryl for the itching. And in the morning before putting her in the kennel spraying her with Adams to prevent them from getting on her. It seems to be helping.

I guess they are so bad because it's so dry. I have never seen as many as we have this year. And the ground bees are REALLY MEAN this year too. We have killed four ground bee nest so far. One of them was in our boat of all places. In one of those "noodle floaty things". They had eaten the end out one that had been covered up by some leaves from last fall. Man what a mess that was to get out.

Is anyone else having an ant problem? If so, what's been your solution?

i been battlin these blame far ants for eons here........ they get in the food they dont eat,,, just the other nite..... a bed came up right by the pen. and some got my walkerfemale on the hind legs.......... had to tend that bed quick.....

I DON'T WORRY ABOUT REGULAR ANTS, JUST FIRE ANTS.
Any time I find a fire ant mound I feed them ANDROF FIRE ANT FOOD. It's in a red and white container with black writing. I am always looking for them to try to keep ahead of them.
