Prior to these events will there be anything else happening?

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi Lesli, Welcome! I have been attending several events about two hours from us. We just started showing a couple of our dogs in May of this year. The questions you are needing answers for kinda depend on the nature of the hunt or show. If it is just a basic UKC club event, it may not be worth your while to drive that far. I have been to some that had as little as 5 dogs. And then some that had 20 +. Thoughs numbers could go for hunt or show.
I would think a good way to get an average as to how large the shows are where you are wanting to go, would be to look in the Event Winners section of the Bloodlines Mag. (if you have it). I think that when they list the winners at at club for hunt or show, they tell how many dogs were entered. If I am not correct on that I am sure someone will corect me. Also there should be a contact number for the club you are wanting to visit. They could probably be of help to you. Driving three hours to a club to only be able to watch the show and only 5 dogs show up would be kinda disapointing to me. But there is never a guarantee as to how many will show up for either the hunt or the show. To bad you would not have much time to hang around. We have met lots of really nice folks at these club events. Most of the clubs have a cook that fixes burgers and hot dogs. They even fix breakfast for the hunters when they return. We usually like to hang around and get a bite to eat and talk to the folks getting ready to go out for the hunt. Spending that little bit there helps support the club. NOW at the larger events there is always things to see and do before and after the events. I hope this information helps out. Maybe someone else will have more to add. Have fun in what ever you decide to do. And have a safe trip. Sabrina

generally speaking, most just say it is a ukc hunt and show

I'm sure that there are plenty of good clubs closer to you than three hours away, if there aren't, i would seriously consider just sticking to pleasure hunting. I am quite sure that you will find one soon, you may want to call UKC directly to find one. They have listings for all of the clubs hosting UKC events and they should have contact numbers for someone at each of them.

http://ukcdogs.com/CoonhoundEvents.htm

here is the address for the upcoming events page. go to the month you want, click on it, then click on the state. it will list all the shows in that state.

to find this yourself, just go to the home page of ukcdogs.com. click on coonhound hunting listing under hunting programs. then click on upcoming events on the left.
good luck at the shows and hunts.
