from the breed standard
"tan dots over the eyes and on checks with a dark redticking on feet and lower legs below body line,on chest and below tail .Red may be eliminated as to the desire of the breeder""

I am pretty sure they can be. I have never had a litter to turn out like that but have heard of it happening several times. If I am not mistaken all the other people who have had this happen have had them registered. (I dont think there is a rule that says you cant.) I dont think they can be put in bench shows, but I am pretty sure they can be hunted. the best way for you to get an exact answer is to call UKC or post under the registration fourm and ask one of them. but like I said I am pretty sure it can be done. when you do check with ukc please let me know what they say, so I will know the correct answer.

I hope this helps,

Shelly Embrey

OF COURSE YOU COULD REGISTER THEM. UKC DOES NOT COME LOOK AT THE PUP. THEY CANNOT TELL FROM THE PUPPY PAPERS YOU SEND IN, THAT THE PUP IS NOT BLUE. HOWEVER, A RESPONSIBLE BREEDER WOULD NOT REGISTER THEM. THEY DO NOT MEET THE BREED STANDARD.

Mike, what did you breed? Dogs heavy in Smokey River and Old Mountain Music and Vaughn breeding combined will sometimes have the recessive genes that put some red color where you least expect it.

I've seen this before too.

Mountain Music/Diamond Jim,Smokey River crossed on Vaughn/ Sebastian. Will get you some English Redticks once in a while! These pups need to be single registered English once they are older. You will have to go through their(English Association) inspection process. Any thing more than the redticking on legs or the red on checks, face or over the eyes is out of the Bluetick Standard!

A lad brought a female to breed to my male .... And I am told that the female has been known to throw a red pup or two in her litters . She is Old mountain music and Sebastian. I am to get a pup .... JUST not a red one. LOL .
Anyway thanks for all the replies . I really should post on the regestry part and find out for sure . BUT I will be getting a blue one anyway so I quess it is very little difference to me at this time anyway
