Female False Pregency Question
I bred a female a few months ago and during the pregency she gained about 20 pounds over her entire body and then showed signs of her belly swelling. She also developed milk in her breast.
Well no pups and the due date was about a month ago.
I am back to hunting her and have cut her feed but she isn't loosing much weight.
Two Questions:
1. Is there any medical condition I should have concern about associated with a false pregency or the hormone system getting messed up.
2. If she is bred in the future is this false pregency an indication of a pattern.

#3 if you're really concerned go have get her an Ultrasound just to be sure that there is nothing left inside. she may have been pregnant but lost the pups in utero and nothing was expelled.
We have a female who has had 2 litters already. Since the first litter she has a false pregnancy every heat cycle. She gains a little extra weight and produces milk. Like clockwork, at 63-64 days she will go into false labor as well. She does all the same "funny" things she does when in real labor, although in a smaller way , ie: panting, nervous pacing, ear biting, and will box herself in a few days. After a couple of days she is back to normal. We are just used to it, and she is the best mother dog we have ever had, in 2 litters she has had 25 pups and weaned them all.
