Dna

I am going to do an AI breeding. In order to register the pups does the dam have to be DNAed? And if so does my dogs DNA have to remain on file with the UKC? Can we just use it as proof and request it to be sent back? I do not want my dogs DNA on file because I heard a registry once gave DNA to scientist to try to find a mean gene in pitbulls.

I would like to assure all our customers that UKC shares DNA with no one but the owner. And also, we certainly would not provide any service to anyone for the purpose of finding a "mean" gene. We have a signed contract with the lab that DNA is not to be shared with anyone. And the answer to your other question is no, the female does not have to be DNA profiled although we strongly recommend all breeding stock should be profiled.

Mike
Charlie is DNA'd(because he has frozen semen) with UKC and so are most of my dogs (still have a few to do ) I have had no problems with my information being given out..
I want to thank you for choosing Charlie for the continuation of your breeding program the thing that is wonderful to me is I will be in ca maybe close enough to see the pups.....wishing you all the best in your continuance of promoting the apbt and dealing with another breeder in a Respectable and honest manner...Gook Luck
...(sorry had to post the personal message to, hope it's ok?)

Thank you Sara. And thank you Sandy. I am still on a high. I don't think I will ever come down. U-CD GR CH'PR' LAR-SANS KRIMSON CHAS KRUG AKA CHARLIE RIP was an awesome dog. You have made possible a long time dream of bringing some old Lar-San blood back up top in my dogs. I'm sure the pups will do us both proud. Good luck with your move. Just holler if you need help unpacking and setting up kennels.
Your friend in the breed,
Mike

Mean Gene

Sounds like the name of an Pro Wrestler,LOL. But they have no way to find such a gene, and if they do the coonhound group would be falling all over themselves to fiind that Tree Gene. Heck they are having an hard enough time on a dog called Rock aint they Sara,LOL. Just a thought but maybe when dog's are single registered they should also be DNA'd,hmmmm that sure would have end'ed that arguement fast dont ya think,LOL.

Rob, you just might have the ticket. We will propose it to the breed associations. I really appreciate your input. All the best ideas come from our customers.
