Information Please

Hi
New here and new to Feist.I admit it.I've been reading the post here and have some questions for all you 'experts'...

1)What is a cur?
2)What's the difference between a Cur and Feist?
3)I"ve heard of Mountain Feist..never seen them yet..What's the difference between a Mount Feist & Feist?
4)What does bmc mean?
5)What does YBMC mean?
6)What does OMCBA registered mean?

I'll post more questions as they come to me.

If someone could let me know or send me a web link where I can found out this info on my own.I would appreciate it..thx

a cur is a type of dog. there are blackmouth curs, mountian curs, catahoula curs, leopard curs, and treeing curs. the cur is also a derogatory slang word for mongrel/mutt/hienz 57 dog.

curs are larger than fiests and tend to use their noses more. there are other body features that are different as well as temperments. some curs i beleive that are small enough can be classified as fiests, but i may be mistaken.

i have heard of mountain fiests, but i don't know what they are.

the bmc is a BlackMouth Cur

the ybmc is a Yellow BlackMouth Cur

the omcba is the Original Mountain Cur Breeders Association

YBMC

The YBMC stands for Yellow Black Mouth Cur and is recognized as a breed by NKC bred by L.H. & Curt Ladner and they also have Blackmouth Curs as do some other people bt the l.H. & Curt Ladner ones are pure Ladner. The Leopard Cur is open mouth on track a lot like a hound but am unfamilar with the breed to state any more. The Mountain Feist and Treeing Feist are the same dog. You can see 2 YBMC on my website. The link is at the bottom of the post and in my profile.

Mountain Feist and Treeing Feist are interchangeable. Folks that live in the Appalachian and Ozark Mountains just prefer to refer to them as "Mountain Feist". Feist alone is a term for a general type of small dog with treeing ability such as "Terrier", "Hound", "Cur", or "Bird Dog" refers to a general group of dogs. There are many locally common and recognizable lines (generally named for a family) within the feist group.
