Fresh Chilled Semen

Has anyone had success or failure you can report? What is the collection expense? Is it nonsurgical or surgical breeding?

I think when breeding to frozen its a surgery. Not major though. Ed Mead collects off the studs himself if he's a/I himself. I watched him pull off Jet6. He uses a long tube to insert in the female on fresh semen. he has luck with it too.

FRESH CHILLED SEMEN

Yes we have had great sucess with fresh chilled semen.
I charge $50.00 to collect and pack the kit. We charge $40.00 rental fee on the contianer, this includes the extender.
Shipping is around $100.00.
Yes you can do a vaginal insemenation. Vets charge from $50.00 to $200.00. Test should be done to determine when the bitch ovulate's.

I've done breedings with fresh chilled semen on three occasions. All three times were sent by Katina Childers of Tree Rizin' Redbones - two from their stud Razor and one from Ruger. I believe in all instances they were collected by Nevergone service, can't remember the guy's name or where he was out of. On all three occasions we didn't do blood tests but relied on timing from first day of bleed, when the bitch stood for a teaser stud, and the appearance of the cells on a vaginal smear. The first breeding we got 12 pups - wow! Second breeding was tricky because her optimal time fell over a weekend when it was difficult to get semen shipped, we bred her outside of what we felt was optimal and got 4 pups. The third breeding we did I got 8 pups. so i'd say that was a good success rate. we did vaginal insemination all three times.

We send quick chilled semen alot. Ed has had very good luck with it. We actually artifically bred most of the female at the house because it is quicker and has lot of less stress on the female. Frozen semen has to be surgically implanted into the female. Quick chilled semen you could probably insert yourself if you had the stuff to do it with. We recommend that you get your dog tested first to see what day is the best to actually bred on,
some dogs are ready @ 10 to 12 days and we have had some that are actually 15 to 16 days.

Isch,

Doug said you guys were going to Dean's on Wednesday. Be sure that he doesn't try and get himself collected while you are there At the least I figure he will be trying to "show" Tracker how to provide a sample LOL
