What Dungy Said After The Game....

"I'll tell you what. I'm proud to be representing African-American
coaches, to be the first African-American to win this. It means an awful lot to our country. But again, more than anything, I've said it before, Lovie Smith and I, not only the first two African-Americans, but Christian coaches showing that you can win doing it the Lord's way. And we're more proud of that."

- Coach Tony Dungy of the World Champion Indianapolis Colts.

Agree!

Both men are honorable men. I can't stand the Bears, but Lovie Smith is a very respectable man and you have to take your hat off to him. I am very happy for Coach Dungy! Go Colts!

i said the same thing last night . i was very proud of him for saying what they did, but most of all talking about christ in the biggest moment of his life.

Tony Dungy is a class act but not the first Christian coach to win the super bowl. Joe Gibbs, also a class act, lives his life in the name of the lord and won 3 super bowls the lords way.

Dungy said Christians first, thats the important message. He is a class act in my book.

The real deal...

So many times I have seen players say they are Christians but then when it comes down to it they live in a way that denies the Faith.

It's nice to see a man (Dungy) who lives out his principles before he spouts them off. When Dungy talks about doing things the "Lord's Way" it means something because with all he has been through and how he never lost his cool, his faith or his character.

Some say they follow Jesus and don't . It's nice to see someone who follows Jesus in a quiet humble way who then gives Christ all the glory when that lifestyle brings him success.

The Colts are a team that I can be proud of.

I was very impressed by what he said. Seems like everyone else was more concerned with Dungy and Lovie being the 1st black coaches. Looks like Dungy was more proud of a "higher" significance. That shows character.

WOW......God is alive.

kokomo creek......I heard it the same way. Both are class acts.

The "world" was displayed in the commericals and God was disaplyed between the lines.

No "in your faces", no stare downs, no shoving.....only 2 personal fouls and they were more the inadvertant kind......I was truly humbled by the proclamation of God as the reason for their leadership skills.

The Colts killed many a myth....

Peyton can't win a big game.
Dunge can't win a big game.
Colts are soft.
Colt's defense is especially soft.
Colts can't play in inclement weather.
Dome Team can't win.
................put a fork in them.....there all false now!!

ALOT OF FOLKS WERE TO DRUNK TO REALIZE IT ,BUT HE JUST WITNESED TO 2 MILLION PEOPLE AT ONE TIME. THAT WAS COOL!

Posted by cripple creek on 02-06-2007 01:24 AM:

It does take a strong man of faith

to stand in front of 100 million people world wide and even mention the Lord's name. When we have taken his name out of schools, public places, and for goodness sakes we can even hardly have the manger scene in public.
Way to go Tony!!!

We need to have more Christians in politics with backbones.
Of course that is an oxymoron. I don't think that exists.

The News Media is trying to hide Dungy's faith from public view....

Dungy as quoted in the AP writeup:

"We took the hit early with Devin Hester. We talked about it; it's going to be a storm. Sometimes you have to work for it. Our guys played so hard and I can't tell you how proud I am of our group, our organization and our city."

Dungy's actual remarks:

"We took the hit early with Devin Hester, but we talked about it, we said it's going to be a storm. We said the Lord doesn't always bring you directly through. Sometimes you gotta work for it. And, um, our guys just hung tough and played so hard and I can't tell you how proud I am of our group, our organization and our city right now."

I'm not much of a Colts fan myself, but that statement said alot about the man and his perspective of what he puts first in life. Got to respect that!!! Not many BIG time PRO players can actually say that and get the meaning across at the same time. HE IS A WORLD CHAMPION!!!
