this isnt fair
Now this is kind of old news but i thought i would bring it up to see what everyone thought.
I was at a ukc bench show last year and it was raining pretty hard. the benches were all under a covered area but the gaiting area was not. so the judge asked me to gait my dog while it was pouring rain, like buckets were being tossed on me. i saw nothing wrong with this, its all in the game. but then when everyone behind me was suppose to gait she told them to wait till it slowed down a little. not fair.
after waiting a few minutes the other dogs gaited, which most of them were being dragged by their owners, she did the usual inspection of the dog. after she went passed me she never took another look at my dog. not once. her back was to me the whole time. there was a judge under her apprenticing, i guess is what you call it, and she had said my dog was poetry in motion. *this was out of her mouth, no lie*
my dog hands down gaited the best. AND my dog stayed set the whole show. NO ONES dog stood on the bench for them.
Now this isnt a bad dog either. i have won at autmn oaks with her. and the other dogs were barely pulling out small club shows.
i just dont know. i am of hispanic descent and i am a young adult (19). maybe i am just paranoid but to me it seemed like she was prejudice or something. becuase this really wasnt fair.
did you question the judge IMMEDIATELY after her placement? If you did and you still were not satisfied your choices are ask for a complaint form, if this doesnt work then call UKC, and if all else fails remember her name and dont show under her anymore. There are far more qualified judges than bad ones, but there are some that I wonder why they have their license. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience but dont hold it against all... and if you didnt bother to question the judge at the show then dont complain now.

can't win them all. sorry.
When I judge a show it doesn't matter if an experienced
handler or a kid who is out there for the first time is handling
a dog, I will move the dog where I think the dog looks
best to compare it with the other dogs. In my opinion I'm
out there to judge the dog and not the handler. ( things did
look a little fishy once when there was three women handlers
and all three of them won, but they just happened to have
the best dogs!)
