A hunt Friday night w/ Trackman dogs.

What a lineup. We had 6 trackman dogs,Cold Sweat, Freight Train-22 month old, 8 month old, and 3 17 monnth old littermates. We seen 3 coons on the outside, 1 in a brush pile(had the coon) that it took 2 hours to dig and cut out, 3 dens and a hole in the ground. It was a good night of hunting.

We did have a good time! It was tough hunting but the young dogs got it done in style. We will do it again but it may be a while. Those hunt till day light nights make a long next day. Our last drop was at 4:05 and we live like an hour and a half from Curts.

Watch out Mike, he might be dangerous this year in the hunts. I still have a blue dog or two around and will hunt my female some this year and try to title her. Ya just never know what I might come up with.

Larry don't tell him he might go south on us and stop treeing coons.lol THese are some nice young dogs guys. I have seen and hunted with some nice dogs of all colors but I am really hooked on the Trackman dogs. They are easy to start get struck and get treed on their way to making coondogs.Oh and they have huge mouths w good looks. We hunted hard Friday night on Ice and snow and it was worth every drop even though I sat in the truck on the last drop.I was done.haha It was a lot of work digging John Horners dog out of the dozer pile but I would do it again for ya John. He would of died in that pile if he didn't have a tracker and a huge mouth.I thought Kurt was going to pull him apart though.lol

Thanks Larry and J.Hill

Shaker said we ought to semi-retired after that PKC hunt last week. That Ice will kill a guy...Lol...
I think we'll come back out of retirement for Aroura this weekend though. I sure wish the weather man was wrong and it would hit 50 deg. or better.
I hunt with a guy up here Kenny that has just aquired an 8 month old Tracman pup. I forget what female it was now. All grand I know. I'll find out and let ya know.
Lookin good guys. Looks cold but like alot of fun...

FUN WAS HAD BY ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by chris baker on 01-30-2007 11:20 PM:

Thanks John. He has looked real good the last few times out. For no more hnting than he has had I am very happy with him. That was a real nice offer for him but I can't decide what to do. I think he is going to make a real nice dog and I have found out those kind are very expensive to replace. I think I will keep him a while and see what happens. Was glad to help get Trai out of that pile even though Kenny and James wouldn't hardly let us help. If it were my dog I would have been happy to have people who cared enough to help also. I had a dog up a tree one night in a hunt and the cast decided to just walk off and put the hour on him. I couldn't leave him up that tree and he eventually fell out. All was ok but they didn't even try to help. Look forward to hunting with you again.

Kenny's Deuce dog is doing fine. Making a real nice hound. Deuce and his littermate that I have "Buddy" sound almost the same. Both are hard tree dogs with great mouths. These dogs also have a personality that any dog owner would love. I like my blues but thee dogs could change me a little. As far as young dogs go they have me more excited to hunt than anything I have turned loose for a while. I hope they keep it up.

Posted by heidimarty on 01-31-2007 03:44 AM:

I hope they do too Chris. Thats quite a change from those ole blue dogs but hey.. Lol..
Sounds like their realy clicking for ya.
Hopefuly you guys don't make our spotted dogs look too bad.

They are just dogs and they are still young at that. My old blue still has a home and most of these dogs that Kenny and I fool with have been hunted with him a lot. Him and Shaker have been turned loose a bunch of times. I still got a little female that I will hunt some this year as well. I don't care much about color but it seems like these dogs have a lot of the same charicteristics. They want to please and they are SMART, it doesn't take a lot of work to get them to figure things out. Mine for example won't tree if he doesn't think the coon is there but if he does he is all over it. When I first got him I tried to get him to tree with the other dogs and he wouldn't hardly get up on the tree. When he thought the coon was there he would tree and go back when you left.

Just givin you guys a hard time. If Kenny is hunting them, that says alot to me.

THanks Marty, I still use Shaker and Bo(Baker's Blue dog) as a measuring stick. THese young dogs are showing alot of promise but still have a long ways to fill them dogs shoes. Bo and Shaker aren't the best But I would hunt either one of them with any dog and be just as proud if I got beat.

Larry and Marty lets try and get together when the weather turns better. 1-573-864-4720.

You bet Kenny. The Loose and I will try not to embarrass ourselves. Poor ol guy aint been out in 3 weeks. I know he can tree coons in this, the question is how far he would have to go to do it. Sometimes I wish he was lazy like me.
