Bleeding Ear ?

Just the tips are cracked and bleeding. Will cold wet weather cause this? He does not have mange, and he has not been fighting he is in a kennel alone. Any ideas are welcomed.

I had this problem

Not sure how it started, but every time he shook his head the cracks opened up and started bleeding and getting worse. We couldn't find why he was shaking his head so much to begin with, so we treated him for mites, scabies/mange, with antibiotic cream, with anti-fungal stuff. The vet gave him heavy-duty shots of Ivermec all summer, and we massaged with a 3-way cream.
In the end, we stopped the cracking by putting band aids on his ears! LOL looked ridiculous, but it protected them long enough to heal. Before band-aids, we tried superglue, emt gel, and all sorts of other things, but none worked.
We have been using a pyrethrin dip on the bald spots and it seems to be helping. But, the whole thing went on for eight months and still isn't completely done...

I have a part black and tan that was dropped at my door. Well I could tell he was part hound so I took him in. Very nice dog. He had the same problem. I don't know if it was frost bite or what. I had his ears cut back several times. Even then they would pool up with blood like a big blister. Vet would drain now and then. Even take him back and you'll think this is nuts but she sowed big buttons on his ears to keep the blood from pooling. Now his ears are fine but he looks dorky with short ears. Almost like a doberman. One ear is hard though from the trama I guess. But when his ears was like that he would make a big mess with the blood.

SAVE THE COON, HUNT WITH A HOUND!

Had this happen to several of my dogs... best remidy is New Skin. The stuff people use for shaving cuts! It is an antibiotic and it is flexable. The hard part is getting the initial "seel" I clean the blood off as best as I can without getting it wet. Then apply 3-4 coats letting it dry, remember it burns a tad so do not let him shake his head! Then put it on 1-2 times a day. I had one that a coon took a chunk out of his ear and it healed him up good.
