no bark collars?

do any of you use these when the dog is in the kennel and will this hurt a dogs performance at all or will it shy him away from barking. and if it wolnt hurt them which ones should i get.

nope, won't bother their hunting a bit.

I'd go with the Tri-Tronics. It's a little more money, but a great unit.

IT WON'T BOTHER THEM A BIT WHEN THAY GO TO THE WOODS. KEEPS THEM FROM RUINING THEIR VOICE IN THE PEN. DEFINITELY GO WITH THE TRI-TRONICS.

Its never hurt the pen barkers I've had.I've tried em all and the dog-tra is the best.

Posted by coonsmen on 10-20-2006 03:05 AM:

how do they work. if a dog is barking in the pen next to the one who has it on will it shock him?.
so two votes for tritronics and one for dogtra. can you guys tell me why you like one over the other please.

Not sure about the dog barking in the next pen, my dogs aren't that close.

As for why I like the Tri-Tronics, it's the only unit that I've owned, but it's worked great. Tri-Tronics customer service is also good.

Plus, Tri-Tronics are made in the U.S.A.

Dogtra - South Korea

THE TRITRONICS HAS ALSO WORKED WELL FOR ME. I ALSO HAVE 3 RECHARGEABLE ONES THAT I GOT FROM CABELA'S. THEY WORK GOOD TOO UNLESS YOU HAVE A REAL HARD HEADED DOG. I WILL USUALLY PUT THE TRI-TRONICS ON FIRST & USE THE OTHER COLLARS AFTER THAT FOR REINFORCEMENT. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE WATERPROOF ONE. IT WILL LAST FOREVER.

I need to get a Couple of Bark Collars, my hounds are usually pretty quiet, I keep Four, usually hunt two at a time,
When I go hunting, the two that stayed behind, bark and bark, and when the hunt is over, and I pull up in the driveway, at Midnite or So, they go nuts, and wake up the neighbors.
I have used my shock Collar, and a Dummy Collar, and that worked pretty well, but then I end up needing the shock collar in the woods.

Cabela's has a pretty nice bark collar for about 39.95. However, I did not like the collar that came on it and replaced it with a tri-tronics collar.

Posted by rweller on 10-20-2006 03:24 PM:

I bought one at the local Farm supply for around $40.00 and it works great.
It works by the vibration of the vocal coards. The harder the dog barks the more intensity of the shock on the dog. It doesn't take long and they leqarn not to bark. It doesn't hurt there barking when there hunting either. One thing you want to be carefull of, you have to tighten the collar pretty tight so the neck makes good cantact with the probes. Be sure not to leave the collar on for more than a day or two or the probes will wear soars in your dogs neck.
Also smart dogs figure out when its on and when its not.

The sportdog collar works good for me.You can buy two of them for what one tritronics cost.

Posted by coonsmen on 10-21-2006 12:31 AM:

I had a tritronics that cost over a hundred dollars.Would not stop the dog from barking. It didnt work right.Thats when I got the dogtra. You dont have to put it on as tight because of the bigger prongs on it.It also has a knob with 7 different settings.Usually the inoteck 30 something dollar ones will work fine for most hounds.Just everynow an again one comes along that will need alittle more juice.

Posted by Lonnie P on 10-22-2006 12:41 AM:

The Tritronics may be better quality,Maybe not.I've had 2 of there E-collars die on me.The first one the warranty had expired so I trashed it.Luckily the second one was only a few months old and they fixed it for me.

I am afraid I just found this out the hard way. Nicest pup I have owned has been bad hoarse treated him and he got some better, but I do not know if he will ever be 100%

I got a PETSAFE, from Rural King.

It works fine EXCEPT FOR ONE THING. It stopped the barking, but one day a THUNDER STORM came through, & LIGHTING STRUCK close to the house here, several times. I'm not sure, but I think the VIBERATION from the THUNDER would set the collar off, & shock her???? I do know, that she is SCARED TO DEATH OF THUNDER NOW, & wasn't before.

i sure dont like the sound of that... do you guys think the sound and vibration of a tractor going by the pen about 20 yards away will set it off. my kennel is right next to our morton building where we keep all our combines and tractors.
