One I think is bullsh!t!!!!!!
Ok a dog is struck and treed, while waiting for the 5 you can hear the dog moving he gets minused, shortly after he shuts up you hear him treeing in the same spot again, only to be minused again for the same thing. Untill finally he is minused out. You go to
the tree and he is treed on a tree in the middle of the river, the current keeps pulling him downstream, he swims back trees again, only to be pulled back downstream. Is this just tough sh!t or what?

Bad break, imo if a dog moves far enough to get minused, weather the current moves him or not he still moved,so he should get minused.
Common Sense should come into play, but no one uses that when competition hunting. Was this your dog Chrys?

I an You are highly favored, deeply loved, forever forgiven, greatly blessed!!!! Why? because of Jesus!!!! Whats my job BELIEVE AND RECEIVE IT!!!
Yep,common sense could be used, but how do you unminus a dog after it is all ready on the score card? It's my understanding that only a MOH can change the score on a card......
yepper common sense if the water was swift
enough to wash a dog away
How do you un-minus a dog?? The same way you fix the time on the card. The same way you bump a split tree up after you get in to the tree. The same way you fix any thing that is wrong. Common sense and doing the right thing will fix most any problem. Just give him the tree and go hunting!

I think I would ENJOY COMP. HUNTING, with a guy like you. My kind of guy.

THAT is the problem with competition hunting...the RULES screw most of the "hunting" up....i know this has always been a discussion, but personally, if the dog done what he was suppose to do, which was tree the coon, then he should NOT be minused for something he cannot control...
i agree with Mark V....it CAN be fixed...and judge is suppose to do just that, JUDGE!!!...i mean what happens if ur by a swift moving river and the judge drops the score sheet in the river accidentally and its just gone? but say everyone remembers what happened to that point? heck write it on ur hand or something, OR, "well folk's, u all lose now...

Stick to pleasure hunting boys and girls. You can't deal with the cold reality of a rule book. The dog minused out by the rules. Nothing in the rulebook would support going back and changing anything. Bad breaks are part of nite hunts. Simple as that.
P.S........ It's kinda like finding out after all these years that two dogs can quit the same track at the same time and one gets minused and one gets deleted. To me that is the ultimate b.s. But I now know it is the rule so that is how I will judge it in the future. If it upset me that much, I'
d never hunt another UKC hunt. It doesn't.
I have won hunts my dog should have lost and I have lost hunts my dog should have won. As long as the rulebook is respected, I'm ok ...win or lose.

In my opinion the rules are nothing more than guidelines that apply under ideal situations or when you can see or hear the obvious, but common sense should always prevail.

OK, lets say we "fix" this. We make an exception to the rule and allow a dog to leave a tree and not get minused.
Guess what? For the next 30 years, anytime a dog is minused for leaving a tree, his handler will object and say the dog is probably in a river and got carried away by the current. Then, we'll have to go inspect the situation to see if that could have happened. But we get there and there is no river anywhere around, so now another creative excuse will come out of the handler's mouth. It will never end. Its a bad break, but if the dog is capable of treeing a coon, he'll do it again.
Success at nite hunts does not depend on one hunt win, one screwing over, or one outstanding use of common sense or creative rule bending. Its a marathon and if you let one little crack in the sidewalk ball you up, you're missing the point...

I looked at rule # 1 in my UKC rulebook and I can't find any mention of common sense. In fact, I can't find the words "common sense" anywhere in the UKC rulebook. I stand by my earlier comments which, by tha way, are just my comments on a question asked and put to anyone who reads this forum. John, if you wanna toss me in the river, take your best shot. It use to be truck drivers with CB radios. Now it's coonhunters with computers.
I just wanna know ????
Did the dog have his coon??

as an MOH if the dog was going back to the same tree after he moved every time the judge should have called a time out after the second time. That way ya"ll could have found out what was going on and you would not have been minused out . I hope that you said somthing to the MOH after the hunt . By the way this is EB'S better half talking
