Plott Pup Pics

I thought I'd share a few pics I took the other night of my plott pup. She is just a couple weeks shy of being 1 year old.
She has been running track since 8 months old but just this past weekend she began to show some interest in treeing. I was worried I was going to have to hunt a Walker this fall but thankfully this pup is coming around and I think we'll be okay this fall. She is extremely independant and has a great mouth. She still has a lot of learning to do but I think she is gonna make a real nice dog.
I was hunting her alone the other night and she treed on this big den tree.

Nice!

I'll say she's showing some interest! Great job! She looks loud too!
Great color, she's a nice looking plott. Hope you make Many trees together and that she does really well for you,
HappyHunting! Heather WIlliam
PS. It's nice to see Plott pix, we see too few of them.

These pics are of Rivers Edge Ophelia AKA Ophie. I'm going to try to get some pics of my old dog, Cleo soon. Unfortunately Cleo is almost 13 years old and is looking at her last fall. She has cancer and real bad arthritis. We are Cleo's retirement home so I knew that when we got her but I sure had a lot of fun with her and hate to see her go. Cleo is a good ole' dog. I try to get some pics of her soon as well as my cur dog, Nada.

Great!

I'd love to see pix of them too! I have alwasy had a fondness for CLeo Dogs. The neighbors had a Bassett next door named Cleo who eventually died of old age, I loved her. They have 3 Bassetts now I like but Cleo was special. How nice for you to have Cleo in her old age. My mother has reached the eldery stage as well, at 87... she's still a real hot ticket... Just about to start driving FINALLY.... I'm glad because I'd like her to stick around a good ten more years and driving.... isn't the safest!
Look forward to pix of the other dawgs too!
Give CLeo a gentle pat from me and tell her she's a Lucky Lady to have you! Happyhunting, Heather

Ophie's mother is also named Cleopatra, no relation to my old dog.
Cleo is a good hound dawg name.

So many Plotts these days seem to be from short-eared stock, that's why I really like the ears on this young dog, nice and houndy. How is she bred?

Posted by on 10-13-2006 01:54 PM:

She is out of Chad Barth's Trigger dog and Nt CH Feuerhelm's Cleo dog.
Mainly Bear Pen & Weems bred on top, Weems & Star Mtn on bottom.
I believe she goes back to the Butch X Jill cross 13 times.

I'm always looking for Plotts for the Calendar. You might send me some in as high a resolution as possible for consideration in the 2008 calendar. 2007 is on it's way to the printer next week.

When I was a kid, My dad had a grade plott dog that we hunted. Thinking about that ole' dog made me want to give plotts a try again. We figured he was about 4 when we got him, my uncle hunted him for a year or 2 before. We hunted him up until he died at 12(?) years old. My dad & I were talking about that ol' dog and we can never remember looking at a slick tree with him. He was deadly accurate. He hunted the woods we turned him in and always showed us a coon. The only fault I can remember him having was that he would tree a possum once a year. Dad would shoot out the possum and give the dog a whoopin with it and he would be straight until the next fall. We never hunted him with many other dogs. Dad had an old timer that hunted with us with a Walker female and that was about the only dog we ever hunted with until I got my first pup, which was a Walker male that was Wild Casey X Fin Riv bred.
That old plott was a good one. He wasn't silent but was a little tight mouthed. My pup is very mouthy. She opens on the first thing she smells whether its good or bad. It will be interesting to see how she pans out after this fall.

Terry-
The pic with the ears back do look similar to the old ads ran on Nailor.
Thanks for helping me get the pup treeing. I will return the favor when I get a chance. I'd like to see your Cyclops pup make a coondog.
