The dosage he gave you is closer to the dosage levels (although still a little low) that it takes to kill just the heart worms. The dosage you are giving should take care most of the parasites that ivomec will kill. I have been using the 1/10 cc of 1% for 8 years or better and have never had a problem with any of my dogs.

Do you give the 1/10th of a cc of 1% ivermec straight, or do you mix it with something?
Kyle

I used to give it mixed with Glycol, but for the last 3 years I have given it stright.

ivomect

the formula is 1:10 . you mix 1cc of ivomect with 10cc of propylene glycol. With this formula you then give 1cc per#40lbs of body weight. glycol is a suspension solution available at any local pharmacy. this ivermectin formula is directly from the veterinary encyclopedia.

giving it straight will eventually damage your dogs vocal system

I have always thought

It was 1/10cc per 44lbs. Also told anymore than this might not kill the dog, but cause serious reproductive problems such as sterility.

I have also heard from several vets that strait Ivemec can damage the vocal coards. I pull the amount of Ivemec I want, than fill the rest of the serenge with grape pop. The dogs kinda like the taste.

I dont know for sure if it does damage there voice or not, but I mix it just in case. Also did I mention they like the taste of the grape pop???????????LOL

Posted by cripple creek on 10-05-2006 01:20 AM:

same here

I mix mine with pepsi. They like that as well.

Posted by cripple creek on 10-05-2006 01:21 AM:

also

been using it for years and never had any voice problems of any kind. Dogs were as loud when they were two as they were at 9 or 10 when some of them passed on with no change in voice. However, you can't argue with a vet.
