what is the best time to rattle for deer during bow hunting season could sombody help me

Starting from Oct. 20 through November to the start of gun season. You've got a few weeks before you can start tinkling the horns.

It usually starts with cooler weather..But you can rattle in bucks about anytime when season is in...You can rattle them in now.But its usually the smaller bucks...They say pre-rut is the best time...But I think many (OLDER) bucks have been rattled at too much and dont answer it like they used to years ago..Now about everybody carrys a rattle bag and Grunt call.....When you see them chasing does its time to start rattling...Thats the best time to get a nice buck to come in...With the change of date to the gun season this year.(Its a week later)I think the rut will be about over.It was that way last year in shotgun season...I hunt every day and I didnt see one buck chase a doe during gun season last year...So I think most of the bigger bucks will be killed in the early bow season this year..........I havnt been yet.Im waiting until it cools down.....Good Luck

Anyone been tracking the story of EHD killing massive numbers of deer in certain counties? Personally I would not eat one this year till after the first HARD frost because that is when they say the "midge" that is infecting them will die off.
