Some of My Favorite Hounds...

This is Gary Uchtman's old Ranger VI, my favorite Blue male of all timeso far.

He got tick fever at two, and went sterile after siring only two litters. It was a shame, as old VI was one of the best I ever saw go in the timber.

I got unexpectedly busy, and I'm having trouble figuring this scanner out.

I did get one more--Ranger V.

This dog should have been bred to more.

I'm trying to scan a picture of a bitch I had out of Sooner Be Blue that I liked real well. She wasn't Uchtman bred.

I promise you, that little hussy could forevermore take you coon hunting. With her, you needed to plan on going deep and staying long if the coons weren't moving.

I loved her to death. She was a little tree dog too.

Gr.Nt.Ch. DeGraffenreid's Blue Newton. He was the sire of my Jewel female.

Here she is...the Sooner Be Blue female.

See, I can like something that isn't Uchtman bred.

The last two fenales I have bred have been to Echo bred males, by the way.

I'm not completely one track minded.

The hammer line and the Jet line are both in Michigan.

Here is my old Belle female. Smoky River Diamond Jim on top and a granddaughter of Slife's Rambo on the bottom.

The English bitch was a Platte Valley bred female I started and let my buddy have. She wasn't accurate enough to suit me, but she was high scoring English fmale at the UKC world hunt in 1989.

This is old Belle and a Walker hound owned by my hunting buddy Shawn Gillespie. We hunted together most nights back then before I moved to Kansas.

This was a rough , mean running coon we treed down in the Illinois River Hills, hunting some pretty rugged terrain.

The old coon was trying to make that bluff, but old Grandma was blowing snot up his backside and he had to take a tree.

When Belle was treed by herself, this was the way she would be treed most of the time.

Shawn and I hung a few hides up and took a picture.

the two Blue dogs were Belle and a female pup out of her and a Comb's Jack son.

The Walker dogs were out of Yadkin Tar Rattle Shaker.

Pretty good kind of Walker hounds, too. Better track dogs than most and liked to have the meat.

Here is another picture of old Newton.

He was bigger than I really like a dog, but a coon dog in every department.

He was also a good sire. There were coon dogs out of just about every female bred to the old dog. Too bad he wasn't bred much.

Sorry I didn't notice the question about his mouth.

Yes, he was loud--extremely loud.

He had a long, smooth horn bawl on track, and a big ringing chop on tree.

Ranger VI was maybe the smartest Ranger bred dog I was ever around, and had a disposition to want to please you.

Albert was as smart a dog as old VI, but was turned a little different.

Ranger VI was straight as a gun barrel and could tree any kind of coon.

A hunt we took one night with him and my old Belle female stands out in my mind as one of the greatest hunts I was ever on.

We hunted the rough hills and looked at something like ten coon over those two dogs that night, with numerous split trees.

We had hard running coons, rough tracks, red hot races and old VI treed a layup. It was just one of those nights when everything came together and both dogs worked to perfection.

I'd love to have one just like him. In my opinion, he was also about as good looking a Blue dog as I ever saw.
