This is for all of the folk that really think that the President of the United states contols the price of gas. Crude oil is a commodity and is traded like a commodity...just like Corn. It is bought and sold on the open market all over the world. The big difference is that the fluctation is seen at the gas pump in near record fashion.....the price of your corn flakes does not change because the price of corn rises and falls....

The rich are getting richer...it's not just the oil companies. They are paying higher prices and they regulate the price of refined fuels according to the future price of oil......

I just read on weather.com that Chris has been downgraded to a tropical depression. Since the fear of a strengthening storm is the number 1 reason Crude went up a little bit, and gas went up 15 cents, I would expect that crude will go down, and gas will drop 15 cents today.

If someone in the Gulf of Mexico farts on an oil rig, Gas would go up $.15!

They can come up with any excuse they want about why prices shoot up, but the real reason they jack it up, is because they CAN!

We will bitch and gripe, but come tomorrow every single one of us will be sitting at a gas pump, paying whatever they ask.

$2.82 is the lowest here, and $2.97 is the highest ive seen. All in the same small town, with both stations getting it from the same supplier.

So, who is it that is only making $0.05/gallon??? The station with gas at $2.97??? Or is it, that the station charging $2.82 is just selling it for $0.10/gallon cheaper than they pay for it???

I live in the Greenville area of SC. At the petrol station near my home, the price was $2.89 on Friday morning. I was going to Spartanburg, so decided to see what the price was there -- it had been cheaper. Well it was -- I filled up at $2.72! We're talking about 17cents difference here -- and the two stations are about 20 miles apart (in the same state, so tax isn't the issue)! I must drive to get to work - there's no public transport in my area, nor are there any carpools to my area from the university. So, other things, like showing has to be curtailed. Too bad people can't wise up to the fact that the petrol companies are all posting huge profits -- that's OUR money!

Gas Price Fluctuations

I'm glad to see some areas have price variances between stations. Here, every station seems to have the same price ( a couple always stay a penny less as a policy). When Sheetz changes theor price, up or down, it seems like everybody matches that within the hour. It doesn't matter where you go, the price is the same!!!
