We don't want to forget about Slim...He's tracking and treeing at night and is what I'd consider an outstanding prospect.

There was a female from this litter also and she is woods ready down in Southern Iowa and looking good...it won't be long and she'll be making her mark also.

Well it's about time. So Moose only has 6 pups on the ground and they are only 12 months old. Do you mean to tell me that all 6 of them are running and treeing? I think that I read somewhere that the Moe pup had only had 2 coons knocked out to him in his short lifespan and that he was treeing his own coon. This sounds almost too good to be true. Is this some kind of April Fools joke? Is Moose being offered at public stud now? How much and what does his pedigree look like?

I have NEVER EVER owned anything but a English Coonhound....but this dog has made me think maybe I should slip to the other side of the fence and try it.... lol

hurnie sure is a lot of fun to hunt, she has a head full of sense, you dont even know she is on the place until its time to go hunting then she is ready to go

The only litter that Moose has on the ground right now is just a year old as of a couple of days ago.

The dam to his first litter is:

Nite Ch. PR Brown's Leinie Red Ryder (Leinie is also out of Rabble Rouser)

Moose and Leinie are half brother/half sister and that first litter shows old Rat up close 3 times so the pups were born to have the goods just like their daddy does.

Moose is built to reproduce.

I will have to echo what Robbie said about Moe. Badger has been hunted mostly by himself. He has treed easy coons, and he has treed harder coons, by himself. He does have some puppy nights, but he is not trashy. He is still young but all signs point to him making a very solid COONDOG!

No one has said anything about what a great personality Moose has. He is one of the friendliest outgoing male dogs that I have ever met. No hyper jumping around or nervousness or skittishness here. He is just a big loveable teddy bear. My grandkids just love to hug on him. He won't jump on them and just stands there and takes it. He acts like he is just happy to be your friend. He is a real pleasure to hunt/handle.

Slim

You're right Richard...Moose has a good personality and is good in the kennel. He learns his lessons quick and they stick with him, I can't hardly ever remember having to go after him more than once for anything. I also can't remember ever having to get after him in the woods, he has always taken his business serious and seldom any "puppy" moments...at least if there were...I've long since forgotten them and that's a sign of an outstanding hound.

Dave took Yank and Slim for a short tour last night...trips to the woods this year have been few and far between with the weather being the way it has been...

Here's a good pair for the future...Slim and my Grandson Cruz...

Sometimes you don't have to see the whole picture to see how much alike some of these pups are...your imagination can fill in the rest...eh?

Yank is a sit down or stand back kind of tree dog althoug his pups seem to want to belly up. The pups from the Moose and Leinie litter all seem to want to get up on the tree so far, although it's still pretty early in their career.

Moose is a nice hound and if he can put his likeness into his pups on a regular basis...he's going to make a lot of people smile for a long time to come...I know he has sure made my face light up many, many times...

Yes, I can see what you mean now that I look at those pictures again...Slim does look like his daddy in a lot of ways. When you see him in person at this stage, he is thinner of build, more like Leinie but he is thickening up and if that continues, he'll have the same color and tree style and maybe he'll end up with the same body style too.

The weather today is great, the sun is finally shining and it has to be close to 50 so the snow is melting fast. I'm going to try and navigate a couple of drops tonight and see what kind of trouble we can get into.

Dave said he might take in a hunt tonight, even though Yank is rusty as an old bolt...he can get it done but when the ground changes from frozen to open and a dog is rusty...it can make for some "interesting" nights so we'll see. Yank is the kind of hound that can tree coons even after being laid up but he's not the same hound right now as he is when he's hunted hard...just like any other hound.

Anyway, we'll see what we can get into later tonight...it should be interesting.

I am still waiting to hear if Moose is being offered at stud to the general public now or are you just breeding your own females? If to the general public, what is the stud fee? I hear that Andy Gilliams hunted his 3/4 sister at the Virginia State hunt Sat night and just missed a big win by 25 pts.
