...new to the cur dog world ...what can I expect good and bad ?? What things are different than hunting with hounds?? Really appreciate any input on curs that you can give me thanks in advance

Hey Big Spike!

It's all gonna depend on what type of dog you have. Ive seen some curs that could flat get it, with the best hounds, but as a rule of thumb, you are gonna have a decreased range with curs that would be much greater with a hound. Basically, they'll hunt a lot closer then what a hound person would be used to. Every dog is different though.

Some curs will give a little voice on a track, but generally, they stay pretty tight till they get treed. I've seen some very accurate cur dogs because of this. They can get a lot closer to the coon and really put the pressure on it to go up.
