I use a single six revolver alot. The only thing bad about them is , they are loud. I shoot shorts in mine and that works fine. I tend to miss more with a pistol , but it still gets the job done and is easy to carry. I've got a Cricket rifle that I use sometimes too and its about like carrying a pistol. The Cricket is pretty junky made and kinda aggrevating to load , but it does work just fine for knocking coons out.

I use a Taurus model 94 with a 5 in barrel,it is stainles so I don't have to worry about rust, it is light and very accurate.I bought it used for 275 bucks.

Ruger Mark II here. Pistol is very accurate, not always sure about the shooter.

BROWNING !!!!!

Ruger mark III Hunter...it comes with the Hi-Viz sights

Also use a Ruger a Single Six with a 9 1/2'' barrel. This gun is awesome because the 22 Magnums come in handy.

Thats a great option for a guy that don't to spend the money for the Ruger single six. Its basically the same gun , but not drilled for a scope. The rough rider is not the quaility of the Ruger , but it will serve most people just fine for coonhunting.

I tend to agree. People should look up the Heritage Rough Rider and if you can do without a scope , you'll probably be happy , and I know you'll like the price too.

Ruger single six with a long barrel. I think you'll find that a rifle take less shots.

Posted by huntingnick on 01-22-2010 03:40 PM:

ruger mark III hunter most accurate
browning buck mark
ruger single six
ruger bear cat
walther p22

use them all, but the ruger mark III is my go to gun.

The Best .22 cal pistols for coon hunting is...

Browning buck mark Hunter- 7 1/4 in barrel, TruGlo sights drilled tapped for scope. More accurate than most shooters. Price around: $350 to $375

Ruger MK-III Hunter- 6 7/8 in, fluted barrel, Stainless Steal, TruGlo, drilled tapped. It too is more accurate than most shooters. It is priced a little higher at around: $600 to $700

One of my buddies had a heritage and sold it got the Browning super nice pistol.

Other friend bought the Ruger the best looking .22 pistols I've ever seen. They both put scopes on them and if I had one I would never carry another rifle to the woods again.

One of my next gun purchases will be a Browning Buckmark.

I've also got a Ruger Single Six I've had for many, many years. That thing has accounted for lots of coon and other small game.
