Dogbox loading /unloading

Pictures would be great

Handling these full size dog box solo can be tough especially when you become older , lol . Anybody got any rigs or slide off to a rack they use ? Or even a hoist ideas too . Like to see what’s out there .

I use an old table saw stand. Works perfectly

Posted by delta slough on 03-10-2023 01:31 AM:

I just built a bench/table the same height as the tailgate on my truck. I used 4x4 posts, made a 2x4 frame, and put 1x6 treated deck boards on top. I made the table about the same size as the box. Works fine. I don't know what the cost would be as I used scraps leftover from jobs. Probably $50 or less. Jr. Steelman

Just back up really fast with the tailgate down and slam on the brakes.

I've seen that a time or 2 🤣.
I've saw on here a long time ago a guy had built a table tailgate high and the top was made out of metal round bars that rolled. It looked perfect!

I know of two. They do work great and pretty simple to make once you've seen one. My box never comes off the truck...problem solved.

I use an aluminum folding four wheeler ramp. It makes taking it out of the truck simple and slides up in the truck pretty easy too.

I use a old fence takle to hoist mine up in barn and then set it on a table I made out of a awning frame that the wind tore up! (Not sure of official name of hoist device)

That is a good idea. Never thought about that.

A metal barrel standing on end works pretty well.

So I thought I would do a search to try to find the old thread with those pics. Did a search for "table" thinking that may bring it up. 86 pages with the word table lol!

I use a cable spool the smaller ones. I pot casters under it. Same height as my tailgate. Slide the box on then roll it away. Works really well.

Could put a 2x4 on edge on each side drill round holes in them big enough for shovel handles or broom handles or whatever. Slip a piece of straight plastic pipe over the wooden handles so they'll roll.

Go by your nearest power company or contractor and ask for a wire reel.. they’ll have a variety of sizes and most are happy to give them away. Once the wire is pulled off they are junked anyway. Stand them on-end, works great. Get one in good condition and it’ll last you about 5 years.

I have a stand with 3 rollers in the middle.
I bought it at least 20 years ago, just slide it across and it works great,
a guy in Michigan used to make them, legs are adjustable for the rite height.
Works great.
Someone should make them, obviously there is a market......

I'm still amazed we have a whole page on taking a box out of a truck.

It’s a shame he had to stop making them. Seems like someone tried to sue him over someone getting hurt by a box rolling off it

It's a shame that happened, but I love mine, looks like the day I put it together. It sits outside all the time and people have tried to buy it,but I will keep it as long as I have a dog box.

Mine come with a short chain to hook to the box, I always hook it to one of the doors of the box, simple safety precaution.

I hope you are doing well Hobo, we both have been on here for a while.....
I miss the posts by Jim...
