Raccoon should be mildly up this year, but all the buyers I know are stressing top dollar for XXL & XXXL with good quality and well handled put-up pelts. Small to large coon, blue pelts, poorly handled, burrs, blood covered still will not bring good prices.

We we're getting around $10 for a large coonhide last year. But the buyer's were really particular. I remember back in the day when you could skin em, throw em in a bread sack, put em in the freezer and sell a large hide for $30. That was back in the 80s. Hopefully those days will come back!

I think they will be around 25avg on market but nowhere near 35 like last year on the market for coon.

I have heard XXL coon would be bringing $3.00 -$6.00 . Everything else isn't worth packing out.

Does any one know where I can sake them and how much they will bring in east tenn

New York

Early in the season I averaged $13 a coon. I sold 53 hides late December to a buyer named Hoots in North Collins and averaged $20 and I thought he graded hard. January at the fur auction my Amish friends said a nice XXX coon properly handled was bringing $32-34. The demand came from the Chinese and expected again this yr.

price

I like it better when prices are down, it keeps the idiots at home where they belong. Now that people have heard the price might be up every slob hunter in my county is out trying to buy dogs and traps and get permission.Happens every time they hear there is a gold rush.

Posted by Jason Hart on 09-27-2013 01:03 PM:

No gold rush prices are still going to be bad if you sell to a fur buyer in Iowa they always stay around 8 to 10 price range while the middle man takes it in the shorts welcome to life!

There is your first mistake...groenwald

Posted by bobbycagle1 on 09-28-2013 12:17 AM:

That sounds good! It would be nice to get that kinda money for our hides! It would help pay the feed and gas bill. Maybe a new Garmin and couple new collars! Lol

A tricounty fish and wildlife supervisor told me, Asia and Russia are going to buy big in the fur market this year, so do not fall for that silly 8 to 10.00 scam.. hold them until your fur buyer caves in and pay's for what they are worth.....
