Hot Nights Ahead

Hottest day to date this year in La. turned me loose at 2100 with a heat index of 98* and treed two by 2230. Wish I was a northern boy again. At least we didn’t run into any snakes or gators but the horse flys were horrible.

Stories like this makes me glad I live and hunt in the mountains. Rarely does it get above 65 at night where I hunt, but it's rough in the winter.

Snake bites

I always keep some dexamethasone at the house and kids benedryl. Had him get bit about a month a go and gave him 5 ml of Dex and about 20 ml of benedryl he was good to go in 12 hrs. Not sure what got him though.

85 F last thursday morning at 5:00am when I picked up my buddy for our yearly trip to the Uchtman Memorial hunt in Missouri. It was a little better up there, but still 94 in the middle of the day. You got to really want to hunt down here south of Baton Rouge, La.

Snakes and Briars

It has been HOT in good ole Alabama too!! Cottonmouths and water moccasins in every swamp hole. Every turnout ends up in a cutover where a few trees were left on a ditch and coons are feeding on the blackberries. Either wear bibs and long sleeves and sweat to death or get ripped up by the blackberry briars. Hunting 4 nights a week but it takes its toll!!
