Uctman Dogs

I'm looking into buying an Ucthman Bluetick and I was hoping some of you fine people will give me your honest opinion of these dogs. Thank you, Loyd.

They are my favorite line of Blueticks.

Like all lines, there are good and bad.

Utchman dogs are the best in my opinion. Look for the pedigree to go back to the Hawk x Cheater cross.

Good luck!

You can't go wrong with them. I have had very good luck with most of them. Usually very easy to train and easy to handle. I had a male out of Locktite. He made an excellent coondog. Super hard tree dog, layup specialist with a good loud mouth. But my best dog out of the Utchman dogs was a female out of Hawk. She was "Little Miss Perfect". She had it all. Her only problem was that she would climb any tree she could. She fell out one night and broke her back and I had to have her put to sleep. I cried like a baby.

Both of mine are Utchman bred

My male is out of Hornet and my female is out of Clyde (who is out of Hornet). They're awesome dogs. Not just gritty but smart and fun to be around, too. Good for a night in the woods or a night by a warm fire. :-)

I've looked at a lot of bloodlines and I think Lonnie Utchman just breeds them closest to what I'm looking for in a hound.

Im a black and tan guy and wouldnt own a blue dog if it was free, but if I did it would be utchmans. I have drawn several in hunts and they usually will give you all you want. Iv saw several that can compete with anyone....

I think if the test of time & longevity means anything they are deffinately worth givin a try.

This strain within the breed has been bein maintained & campained since before most of us where even breathin on our own!!

STOOD THE TEST OF TIME IS CORRECT

Two Toes left out the success of these hounds time has proven their ability and looks over powers most of the lines today and they keep coming. They have not went into hiding all through the years and have maintained a more outstanding performance than other lines. Honesty has played a most important role in the success of this line of dogs when you get an Utchman dog from these guys you are getting the blood line described in the pedigree.

Here a couple of pictures of my 8 month old Uchtman bred female (I really need to take some new pictures... I keep posting the same ones!). She seems to be fitting the typical Uchtman dog description - Quick starter - treed her first coon right at 7 months and has treed 4 thus far, good looks, very intelligent, really loud mouth, quick learner, great disposition, awesome drive, and coon crazy! She's the first bluetick we've had and we've been pleasantly surprised by her. From what I've seen and heard so far, this is a terrific line of dogs.

I think John has it right they are my favorite also. I tend to prefer Gary’s crosses they are not without faults but in my experience some of the most natural pups they’re are. I have had 4 in the last 7 years that treed their own coons at 7 months or before. The common traits in mine have been super independent sometimes to a fault and pressure tree dogs a lot of them will be bawl mouthed tree dogs some a little tighter on track than I prefer but not silent. From what I have seen some could hunt a little harder when first getting started but by the time their year and a half old more go than a lot of people want. The line that I like makes a bigger hound males 80 lbs plus with mouths to match. I have one here now that has a little more nose than he knows what to do with but he is getting the kinks worked out treed his first night in the woods at 5 and a half months by hisself without ever being worked on a drag or seeing a coon. Just like any breed or line of dogs not all will make it but when handled right and hunted a high percentage will.
