I WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE JOE NEWLIN WITH THE PURCHASE OF STYLISH HITMAN. HITMAN IS THE ONLY CHOICE FOR THE HARD CORE CLOVER LOVERS. COMPARE THE BREEDING WITH EVERYTHING ELSE THAT IS CALLED A CLOVER DOG. THAT IS WHY HE WILL BE A GREAT STUD DOG. JOE WILL BE ABLE TO PROMOTE HIME BETTER THAN I COULD. THAT IS WHY HE WAS SOLD ALONG WITH A BUNCH OF DEAD PRESIDENTS.

THANKS,
DAVE BRENDLINGER

i purchased a female pup out of haley and joker 2 weeks ago, and i couldnt be happier with her. she is great around my 2 little boys. she doesnt spend all day barking at home. i know in the future my kennel will revolve solely around clover breeding. thanks again for the great pup joe.

I'm really glad that Joe has Hitman in his kennel now. Hunted with him several times back when Eric Fairchild owned him. One of my 2 or 3 all-time favorites. Hitman never bred nearly the females that he should have and that's a shame. I know Joe will get his pups on the ground and on the way. I have never fed a Clover dog in my life but if I ever do, it will be one off Hitman. That Peg bitch that Tammy handles is the toughest one hour PKC dog I have ever run across. Breed her to Hit and look out.

Posted by Oak Ridge on 10-15-2007 06:53 PM:

Thanks JiM,

That's the plan. Peg is nursing a litter right now, but I have several other females that will be bred to Hit Man as they cycle.

I got to hunt him one night before our season went out....he treed two in style, then he got "gone"....found him a long ways away in a bulldoze pile...looking at number three.

He's a little over weight, and WAY out of shape...but I'll fix that pretty quickly.

Joe, you ready for a trip yet? If you come, who would you bring? I saw the 'B" team last week, I am ready for a little more "A" team action.

It is amazing how much interest the Clover line of dogs generate. I know I had tried all the other lines back in the day and it wasn't until Brian Wessel gave me a pup out of one of Caseys first litters that I realized how much fun coonhunting could be with a independent accurate hound, and I've owned one ever since!!!!
Brogy,
I can tell you know your Casey dogs. My partner and I have owned 7, one being the Flash dog in Wingman 66 post as I made that cross. Not to mention Card has been here most of the time since he was 2 until Lee just bought him off Brian! You hit the nail on the head about the crosses on Casey as my favorite was out of a Grandnite out of Lipper most independent dog I've ever seen. All business all the time, Got her at 6 weeks she died here at 13.
I do think there is a little more run in the Stylish Clover dogs than the Casey dogs and I don't think Joe can argue to much on that as he has hunted with Card and Flash many times. But the end result is basically the same a black and white dog by themselves steadily hammering away at about 60-80 bpm with 2 eyes looking down. P.S. I took that picture that Joe posted of Wild Casey in 1991 when he was here in IN being studded for Brian. Hunted with Casey many times, a serious coon treeing machine!! Coonhunting Clover Style it's as simple as Black and White!!

Jeff, I remember seeing in the Casey ads that he was at your place for awhile. I hunted with Casey a handful of times when he was at Todd Ristau's up here in MN. My dad and Todd hidehunted Casey a bunch one fall/winter when he was up here. My dad ranks Casey as one of the top 1-2 dogs he has ever followed, Ristau's Jenny is the other and she is directly out of Casey.
Terry Willford hunted with Casey a bunch too and Casey seems to be the foundation in his dogs.
My first dog was off Casey and a Finley River female and I've been a believer in that mix ever since.
Between Ristau, Terry Willford and a handful of other local dogs I've had the pleasure of hunting with a bunch of Casey offspring.

Congrats to all you guys with your clover hounds. What is the predominant mouth on the males and females. Volume? Bawl/chop, etc?

Thanks

Jeff,

I would tend to agree with you. That "extra" shot of Lipper in the "Stylish" side of the clover line put some more track in them than the Casey breeding.

I don't however believe that it's fair to say that as a whole, there is more "track than tree". The outcome is the same....they get hooked, with the meat at about 60 to 80 BPM.

The Casey dogs are a little more hard to come by in this part of the country than the Stylish Clover dogs... I'd love to have some to add to my "collection", but they just are not as readily available ..
