Ranger is now available for stud in Southeastern Ohio. I also have frozen semen at Nevergone Genetics in Indiana available for shipping or artificial breeding there. Stud fee will be $250 and he will be paid up in the Performance Program. Ranger is and has been described by many life long coon hunters as a Coon Dog first and foremost and has done his fair share of winning in the hunts. He is also bred to reproduce and has pups on the ground now that are following in his footsteps.

Thanks Wayne. I like the way he is bred. Brings the new blood in with some of the old blood also. He will cross well on a lot of different lines of Blues without being a total outcross. He turned 8 years old in August so I hope some people will utilize him in their breeding program before he gets too old. He is a nice hound for sure and is reproducing early starting pups from the reports that Tim has seen and heard. He has a home with me for the rest of his life.

Hunted last night in West Virginia with David Smith. We hunted Ranger, my Sassy female out of Ohio Valley Blue Diamond Jimmy, and David's Jewel female out of Clear River Diamond Jimmy. We treed a single right off of the bat and then they got around a mile deep and treed a double. Ranger is showing me to be a hard smart hunting dog that is a quick locator that is also very accurate. I like him and believe he will continue to reproduce early starting naturals regardless of the bloodline that he is crossed with.

my comments on Ranger

Ranger will bust a hole in the dark alone or with company. He is all business when he's loose. Nice locator with a pretty good tree bark. Only hunted with him the one night so far but I have to say he could eat my dog feed .He is the only mad dog hound I've hunted with that I can recall but I enjoyed watching him hunt.

Posted by ov_blues on 12-10-2014 11:22 PM:

Thanks David. One thing I've seen from him all ready is that you better be ready to go coon hunting when you turn him loose. lol. Flat ground with corn fields, hill country, or thickets, he is going to go do his best to get a coon treed. He is exactly like Tim Vaughn described him to me.

Ranger

I have hunted with Ranger numerous times, he is all coon dog, He did all his winning by being a coon dog that will get treed with the meat, very nice hound.... Gerald

Gerald and Lance, Thanks for the comments on Ranger. Mad Dog, Smokey River, Uchtman and Hammer blood all rolled into one hound. He also has that link going back to the first Blue dog that my Dad bought as a pup back in 1951. I know that isn't the reason for his being all of what he is, but it has special meaning to me.

Young dogs

John,
Talked to Brian Pierson tonight and he is sure excited about a young female (Jewell) off Ranger x Night Stalker Jazz that has been split treeing (with the meat) on a regular basis, she even has Ranger's mouth, track and tree. She is already a Show CH and will be in the hunts this spring.

Brian also is getting good reports on pups from his Ranger female crossed back on his Dual Grand ASTRO.

Ranger may have moved to a different part of the country but he has definitely left his influence in this part of the country...........Tim

another Ranger pup

John,
Corey Carlson, Mn. has a real nice female sired by Ranger and out of Hey Jude. She is a real tree-dog that will get treed and stay hooked...........Tim

Tim

For no more pups that are on the ground out of Ranger he is leaving his mark. Can't wait to get some of my females bred to him. He has been hid under a basket for his prime breeding years so hopefully others will recognize what he has to offer and give him a chance with their good females also.

Messed with my 4 month old Ranger pups with a dead coon a couple of days ago. They showed a lot of interest in it and are not going to have any problem looking up. Then they decided that they liked the cat that came up the holler and put him through the country for quite a ways. lol. Talked to Tim Vaughn today and he told me about several pups and grandpups of Ranger that were getting it done. I'm sure Ranger will do his part in a breeding program.

I also have pups out of females out of John II who would be half sisters to Ranger. I like the actions of all of these pups and there are things I see popping up from Tim and Paul's Mad Dog blood that I really like. I've also hunted with a couple of other males out of John II. If you haven't checked out a dog with some Mad Dog blood in them give me a call and I will tell you what I like about them and why I have decided to breed this bloodlines into the dogs that I have been hunting.

Some of Ranger's accomplishments when he was campaigned by Tim Vaughn

BBOA Zone 1 High Scoring Dog Overall
BBOA Missouri State Hunt High Scoring Dog of the Hunt
BBOA Nebraska State Hunt High Scoring Opposite Sex
Missouri Coon Hunters Federation Zone III High Point Dog
BBOA ZONE I Hunt at Clinton, Mo two night cast winner
Top 100 UKC World Hunt

Ranger won by being hard going, independent, quick and accurate. He has been hunted in several states including Georgia, Ohio, West Virginia, Louisiana, Indiana, Missouri, Nebraska, and Wisconsin to name a few and he could get it done no matter where he was turned loose. Just saying all of this to emphasize that Ranger wasn't just hunted in the local hunts in his back yard to accomplish his title. He was tested and passed with flying colors. He is proving to be a reproducer of early starting tree dogs and with the pedigree and background of the hunters behind the dogs in his pedigree he should be passing it on to his pups.

Ranger wins

John,
In addition to being Federation zone 3 winner he was 0verall state high scoring dog in 2012.

He also won his cast, at the Winter Classic in Georgia, by getting off by himself and having the meat.

He also won his cast, at the quarter finals Atlanta TX, by getting 2 singles off to himself...........Tim

young dog

John,
Talked to Mark Brown this evening, he sure is impressed with his son's young female (Ranger x Hillbilly Tillie). This little female has been split treeing and holding pressure, not afraid to get hooked and has a good mouth........Tim
