I have three granddaughters of his. They are out of males that were out of Jim and Slammer. Planning on breeding a couple of them to Mr Blue when they come in heat.

OV_Blues

I would like to book a pup out of the cross you posted. I owned Jim and Jimbo, Jimbo was from the JimXSlammer cross. Still own the Clear River Name.

Posted by ov_blues on 04-16-2018 10:28 PM:

Mike, I bought my Jimmy dog off of Roy Pucket when he was five and he hadn’t been hunted a lot because when he was two something happened at a tree with a landowner and Roy quit hunting. I started hunting him pretty regularly and then a few months later Dad bought Clear River Blue Diamond Jimmy off of Paul Whitfield. Ohio Valley Jimmy was out of the next to last cross of Jim & Slammer and Clear River Jimmy was out of the last litter. They were both nice hounds although Clear Rivwr Jimmy went to town before we owned him and I didn’t competition hunt Ohio Valley Jimmy much. Did put a first on him and HTX in three hunts but didn’t finish him to Nt Ch. Now I wish I would have at least finished him to Nt Ch. but I knew what I had so didn’t worry about it at the time.

Snapper had her Mr Blue pups Wednesday. 8 males and 4 females but she lost one of the females so down to 11 right now. The rest seem to be doing good.

I traveled to OK several years to buy a pup out of Diamond Jim and Georgia Swamp Doll, a half brother/sister cross as Jim and Doll were both out of Rambo II. Got to hunt with Jim and Slammer while at Jim Smallings house. We didn't have the best hunt but managed to get a coon treed. C R Diamond Jim had a super nice tree mouth that carried well. The pup I bought didn't turn out at all although he was a real looker. A lot of the Rambo II dogs were late starters so I held on to him till he was 2 but still no good. This was no big deal to me as I have had many not turn out in several different bloodlines. Jim told me that there were many buried behind his house that didn't make the grade. I figure if most folks would admit it, there are a lot that don't make it but you don't hear about them too much, LOL. I bred my good female to a top blue stud dog once and the stud owner told me if the pups turned out good that they were out of his male but the ones that didn't, they were out of my female. That's called good politics, LOL. Sorry for hijacking your thread, just a little about ole CR Diamond Jim, he really made his mark.

Thanks for your thoughts. The night you hunted with him can you tell me what you didn't care for about Jim. And was it Diamond Jim or his son Jimmy you hunted with? Thanks again.

It would have to have been the Jimmy dog that my Dad bought from Paul who was out of Clear River Jim and Clear River Slammer.

I don’t know enough about Paul to tell you that much about him but if you want to know the good, the bad and the ugly about Jimmy, from someone who hunted with him more than one night, I can tell you. Just pm me your number. Nothing to hide here. All I can tell you is that he had his quirks, some I felt were man made, but as far as ability most guys would be super pleased with it.
