the FACT is that even a cold nose dog wont get every strike or tree every coon first different dogs handle different tracks better than others and if a dog opens first doesnt always mean it has a colder nose. ive seen more colder nose dogs quit tracks than hot nose dogs miss!lol a happy medium with brains is more valuble imo. i do know were a dog is that fits the bill you described but wont be studed. personal use only.

I had a pup out of joe newlins breeding program, was a real nice track dog, she was line bred on whitey.

I have a very cold nosed walker but it's a female anybody wants to see how cold nosed there hound is we can drop.her and see but one more thing if they are.cold nosed they have to have the brains to move and sense enough not to fall on every tree a coon goes up feeding and.she does but the offer is open just as soon as she gets done being a wet nurse

Deventer's Roxy offspring

Deventer's Roxy has produced the best dogs like you describe. Not all are. The dog traits that you describe are controlled by recessive genes so they have to have been present in both sire and dam to be evident. What most call a cold nose is a slow trailing dog that is a poor track dog. What you describe is a dog that tries to get its head up and runs a cold track off body scent. Gr.Nt. Ch. Klear Kry Deventer's Penney that won the UKC Super Slam is that type of dog.
