Introducing Cur Nite Hunt Dog of the Year Program

https://www.ukcdogs.com/article/out...amp;view=recent

Cur Nite Hunts are available to all approved Coon Clubs. Curs do not participate with the Coonhounds, but are drawn out separately against other Curs in a separate Cur hunt that may be ran in conjunction with a Coonhound Nite Hunt. The club must schedule a Cur Nite Hunt in order for any such cast wins to count towards a Cur dogs Nite Hunt record or for Dog of the Year points.

How would we get the club to have a hunt for curs? Do we contact them in advance and request it or what?

I guess the correct question would be: Will every hunt have this option or do we need to request that a cur cast be available in advance. If so, how far in advance in order to be sure it will happen? I'm interested in trying it but don't want to drive a few hours only to find I can't hunt.

Cliff, any Cur Nite Hunt must be scheduled and confirmed in advance just like any other event. In other words, a cur hunt is not automatically available with a clubs Coonhound Nite Hunt unless they requested and scheduled one.

Contacting some of your local clubs and proposing they schedule some Cur Nite Hunts is a good idea. I think many of them would schedule a Cur Nite Hunt if they knew they had guys in the area that would show up and support them. Secondly, they should also be aware that UKC offers coon clubs a deal where we waive their Cur hunt license fee if they hold a Cur Nite Hunt in conjunction with their coonhound hunt. So, technically, they can't lose $ in doing so. Although this is advertised, many are probably not aware of it.

Hope this answers your questions and may help to get your local clubs to consider it.

Failed to answer your question about how far in advance these hunst need to be scheduled. They must be scheduled and confirmed no less than 30 days prior to the event date, the same as any other UKC event.
