Q&A's - Nite Hunt Degree Structure

Nite Hunt Degree Structure.
Nite Champion, Grand Nite Champion degrees, and beyond earned as follows:

a. Five (5) cast wins to earn Degree of Nite Champion.

b. Eight (8) cast wins in Champion division to earn Degree of Grand Nite Champion.

c. After a dog has earned the Degree of Grand Nite Champion, each additional eight (8) cast wins will earn a Degree of GRNITECH2, GRNITECH3, GRNITECH4, and GRNITECH5.

d. A dog having earned a grand total of 50 cast wins will earn a designation of UKC Hall of Fame.

Ask your questions, as it relates to this specific item, and we'll try to answer in a timely manner. Thanks.

Are you going to count wins that a dog already has or will they drop off 1st of year and start over ?

Earleir post

The way he posted it earlier (he took post down to repost to here) he stated that any placements a dog has goes towards cast wins.

For example:

Ole Sounder has 5 open registered cast wins but cant get a first. He is now then a Ntch. If he had 6 cast wins only 5 would count.

Ole Suzie has 4 Ntch wins towards grand. She will now need 4 more CWs to be considered a GrNt.

Ole Bill has 2 Open wins towards Ntch. They count at 2 of the 5 CWs needed for Ntch.

It's in your best interest to finish Bill and Suzie before the first of the year.

Tyler is correct.

Any placement or win a dog currently has on its record will translate into a cast win, come January 1.

When you do a points check on your dog will it now start saying CW's I assume instead of points total. When could you expect that change over, wondering for an older dog.

They are starting this system on Jan 1st and are going back to 2008 on this system.

We might have to put Tyler on the payroll, He's on a roll with this stuff!

Joe, that is correct. You won't start seeing that until after the first of the year though.

Also, I'm expecting any wins to also look something like this:

CW1
CW2
CW3
CW

Something that shows when a dog also placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, for Performance Points purposes.

Allen at what point will you notify owners of additional degrees they have won by going back on cast wins?

Will you guys give us a way to look at this on the website? otherwise you’re going to get 20,000 calls the first month of January.

So final 4 in slams doesn’t count as cast wins. But what about Autumn Oaks and the World hunt? Have you made any decision on these extra cast wins in extremely tough competition.

Jason, we've not yet decided a path of notifying owners other than a surprise degree in the mail. We'll need to discuss ways to eliminate those kind of calls.

As for cast wins at Oaks and the World; I have my proposal but need to still get a stamp of approval before I put it out there.

My Vote is they should count. You won’t get any stiffer competition in hunting. Dogs should get credit for hard fought cast wins.

Then we agree. We'll see.

A dog with no nite hunt history that goes on to win the World Hunt would have accrued five or six wins (dependent on one or two night cast wins at the Zones) from start to finish. That's the equivalent of a Nite Champion degree plus one or two cast wins towards Grand. I doubt many would argue that was too much credit.

Do cast wins at the World Finals count or still like the current system where it’s only the final cast get a win towards grand?

Cast win

Do you have to have plus points? Or just a cast win with circle or minus?

I've heard this several times and I hope it is a huge money maker. If it is, then that means the clubs are making even more!

My math suggests that if the club gains five more entries then they normally would; at $20 per entry, they stand to gain $100 and UKC would gain $10. So yes, I hope clubs will see some grands come back and they benefit from it.
