Sr cast at Iowa State Hunt

Will there be any interest in having a Sr cast at Iowa State Hunt this year? Planning on going not sure if I can keep up with the young guys with my knees in the shape they are in.

Sr cast

Most likely will be, depending on which division you are hunting in. I will have at least one entered in each division (reg. or ch.), so I can choose which one I want to make sr. cast. Take care, Ron.

Ron/critter

Come on over to Legrand on 16/17th to take little hunt. I can hunt CH or Open, but probably would be CH. on Friday night at least. If we don't get anything qualified in Pearl City on 10th, I(we) may not be there on 17th, as we will be in Brooklyn, Wisc. for there RQE. Just have to keep my options open this month with zone & finals, so close this year.

Ricochet, it sure would be dang nice if that club would move OFF of "our" Iowa State Championship hunt date that we have had for 40+ years. You old time competition hunters help me out because I am drawing a blank. Was there the year or two the big time Purina winner, Paul Sheffield & ?dog was there, back when Dolan Bodenhofer & GRNTCH Fleetwood Sam were doing all the winning around here. Won my 1st beep/beep tracker with that dog back then. Take care, Ron.

That would be them. Couldn't remember Pauls' name @ first, but never did remember dogs name. If ya saw Paul walking around grounds, he would remind you of any Iowa farmer/ coon hunter in his bibs. That was back when Iowa State Championship/Purina hunt meant something with lots of hounds/hunters attending. Take care, Ron.

I remember when we held governors cup at Osceola iowa may have been first year of purina DrJacox Black and tans with all his handlers redbone lookout luke and a bunch of other contenders had our nonhunting judges in a frenzy they weren't used to that high level competition

Yup, was there also. Went to State Fair for 3 days, then dropped down on Friday. Other friends brought dogs out to hunt for us, so we didn't have to mess with them during week, while camping at fair. Didn't win, but had a good time with all those 'big timers' coming to hunt. Worst part, we was 10 miles from home over toward Dubuque & bearing in wheel of Bill Trumms' old camper went out & we lost wheel. Camper dropped on highway to bend frame, but it was old/wore out anyway, so we didn't have to pay for it. He just junked it out. Oh, to have it like the good old days!!! Take care, Ron.

Date move

Would appreciate it Ricochet!! I'm trying to help out with our youth date movement, so it don't conflict with yours!! Sure didn't realize you guys had been on that date for so long. Guess we'll have to get our own date, then I won't have to worry about making it your way. Take care, Ron.

I can't think of a time any of us came to the Iowa St Behne. Maybe Lee Walker did several times. I don't think the RQE is going to affect your event. Maybe just you but not the state.

MR. Ricochet

Think we (me & you) are going to have to have a little talk Sat. night, when we come over to YOUR RQE!!!

In the 1st place, I have never had anything to do with picking dates for Iowa State hunt. If you figure back, your club got on this date in 1995. Freeman & I are talking about hunts in early 1980's, so know we (Iowa) were on 3rd weekend of Aug. for a long time before Brooklyn started having RQE.

2nd place was only answering Freeman question about possibility of having Sr. cast at ISH. Hope that could happen there on Fri. night with me, criiter & Freeman being there. I know there are other senior hunters that guide from Legrand club also.

Will see some of you at both events as we didn't do any good in Ill. last week. We ought to be 'easy pickins' on Sat., Jay, as Cub & Augie can't come that night. Me & grand kids will be only ones that can make it to handle anything. Take care, Ron.

How old

How old to be in senior cast.

Posted by Ricochet17 on 08-15-2019 04:49 AM:

My RQE? Someone better reprimand your cigarettes, they smell awfully funny. Not my club, there as not my RQE. Sorry to disappoint you, I will not be at the RQE or the Quarterfinals.

Old Golds

Are pretty strong, but can guarantee, I don't have anything slipped into them, beside tobacco!!!

When i said "your RQE", I was just referring to it in general terms, as in Brooklyn, Wisc. RQE, not "your RQE", as in Jays' RQE. Quit getting so precise or technical on here. May not see you @ zones or finals either, if we don't do any good Sat. night. Take care, Ron.

I'm just trying to increase your competitive edge for this weekend is all.

Competitive edge!!!

Lost that 2 years ago @ SS. Unless I can make it thru a 2 hr. hunt (???), one of grand kids is going to have to pull this off, plus a pretty nice blue dog. Take care, Ron.

ps- read story on last nites hunt on my kennel site. May have lost Madi as handler!!!

Yes sir

I will be there hunting CH division. Bringing Dual GrCh Blue Chic Beauty. With way UKC is set up now Grnt & Nt's hunt in same category, so the 1st 4 senior that sign up in CH division should be able to hunt together. Have to drop off bred female to Trent Krough that is due Sept. 2, so am planning on cast of seniors. If we go our own pace, we may not make as many trees, as young bucks, but I'll bet we have a good time!!!

Tech, not sure on age, but someone on here should know or call Jack. I just him text, so should know shortly. Quick answer back!! He thought it was 55, but not 100% sure. That is what I thought it was, but wanted to check. At 72, I don't even keep track anymore. Come on over, if that is it, me & critter could use some younger help catching dogs!!! Take care, Ron.

Sounds like what I feel like going thru the woods. Almost too good to be true if I don't fall at least once during a cast. Will be looking forward to 'our' hunt this evening. Take care, Ron.
