What is best state for public land coon hunting? Looking to go try somewhere next year with thick coons to put out to a young dog

Pennsylvania!

There is one week out of the year where you can't run dogs on Game Lands due to the stocking of pheasants in preparation for the opening day of Youth Pheasant, and that week is in early October I believe.

There is bunch in Northern MO. Nobody hunts it. Plenty of coons

I always did good at Holly Shelter game land and Croatan National Forest when I lived in NC

Land

Arkansas has to be near the top but has water at some times during the year but lots of coon and lots of public ground also Missouri the Mark Twain region is large tracts but thinner coon population, north Missouri has good population in some states public ground gets pounded hard and in other states and areas doesn't get hunted hard
