~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Snapshots of the final cast are on film and the cast is on the road headed out on the quick 15 / 20-minute trip to their hunting site. It's go time folks!
It's been a long summer and a long time coming for the main event. It's been a great weekend considering and glad to see Autumn Oaks could actually happen, under the circumstances. Thanks to everyone who supported the decision. It's been awesome to see many of you again and for those that would have liked to been there, we can't wait to have all of back next year for a blowout turnout. And thanks to EVERYONE who could join us and entered their dogs this year.
Congrats to all the connections of the finalists and good luck to all!
~ The cast has arrived and are getting the dogs out and ready to roll. Last call to pick the winner. I just hope they have a good hunt and tree a few. Good luck handlers!
~ Lined up.....………. cut 'em! The 90 minute contest is underway!
~ They cut the hounds down the edge of a cornfield. Four minutes in but no strike yet.
` There's a lonely bawl of in the distance but no takers.
~ Another one.... STRIKE Hawk for 100!
~ Apollo answers for 75.
~ Bo struck in for 50 in the same general vicinity. Chill for 25. All four are now on the card.
~Strickland is the first to pull the trigger. Apollo is wooded! 125.
~Chill on the card for 75, with Apollo.
~ Two minutes gone on the tree. Cast is headed in their direction.
~ Tyler Pettit says Bo wants a piece as well. Put him on your card for 25.
~3 minutes is up and the tree is dead.
~ The cast is hoofing it. Trevor says it looks like they may be treed along side a big creek bottom up ahead.
~ It was a little hike but they have now arrived to find the three hounds are actually all on separate trees. Move Chill up to 125 on tree and do the same with Bo. All three have their own tree within a hundred yards of each other.
~ The first 25 minutes of hunt time is in the books. Apollo is handled, while Chuck Adkins and Tyler Pettit are headed to their hounds. Strickland is given the go-ahead to start shining.
~ Chill and Bo are both handled now.
~ PLUS UP Apollo! He's got fur in his tree!
~ Strickland wastes no time sending Apollo back off to work. The cast is headed on up to Chill.
SCORES:
APOLLO 200+
BO 175 pending
HAWK holding 100 strike points
CHILL 150 pending
~ Apollo struck back in for 25.
~ Arrived at Chills' tree. Apollo decided to check the temperature on Chills tree as well and is handled along with Chill. Shine time is running.
~ Check that. Apollo was actually with Bo and not with Chill. No coon found in Chills' tree. Circle his 25 strike and 125 tree points. Chill is recast.
~ On over to Bo and shining his tree,
~ No evidence seen in Bo's tree. Circle his 50 strike and 125 tree. Delete Apollos' 25 strike on the shut out tree with Bo. Both Bo and Apollo are sent off again. All dogs are now back in the dark. No word on Hawk's whereabouts right now. I'll see if I can get a report on him from Trevor.
~ Apprx 49 minutes used.
SCORES:
APOLLO 200+
BO 175 circle
HAWK holding 100 strike points
CHILL 150 circle
~ Next hound to be declared struck should go in for 75.
~ There's one! Apollo...… is struck for 75, to the west of the cast.
~ Chill struck in for 50! He's off to the north of the cast.
~ There's Hawk! Seth Isch calls him treed for 125!
~ Update on Hawk.... is that he is off to the north of the cast as well. That's all I have at the moment.
~ Hunt time is now getting ever closer to the half hour remaining. 38 minutes remained when Hawk was called treed.
~ Hawk has turned it off and Judge Jacob Barton has the two-minute clock running on him.
~ There's Hawk again...….. but Isch says he's moving and tells to Barton to put he pencil to him for leaving. Minus Hawk's 125 tree points.
SCORES:
APOLLO 200+
BO 175 Circle
HAWK 125- (holding 100 strike points)
CHILL 150 circle
~ Had a little bit of a glitch and lost power on my end there for a bit. In the meantime..... Bo was declared struck and treed. 25 on strike and 125 on tree. Unfortunately for Tyler, he didn't stick around long and was minused for leaving that tree and is off running again. Minus his 125 tree points.
27 minutes remaining in the hunt. The boys are in the homestretch now but it's Indiana and a lot can still happen.
~ Chill is wooded! Adkins called him treed for 125 with 13 minutes remining in the hunt.
~ Apollo is working off to the NW of the cast while Chill is opening off and on to the NE.
~ Trevor says the tracks have seemed to stall off a little as compared to how they started over an hour ago. Says he's not heard Hawk or Bo for a little while now. Same with Apollo. 19 minutes remaining in the hunt now.
~ There's Bo again! Off to the NW. Pettit calls him treed for 125! Trevor says they're going to have a stretch of ground to cover scoring these two.
~ The cast has arrived at Chills' tree, handled him and are shining.
~ Chill has scored! Plus him up! 50 on strike and 125 on tree. We're now down to the very wire. Seth Isch has turned the handing over to his young daughter Izzy for the final countdown of the Final Cast.
~ SCORES:
APOLLO 200+
BO 125-
HAWK 125- (holding 100 strike points)
CHILL 175+
~ Izzy has treed Hawk for 125 just before the timer expires! Hunt time is now over. Bo and Hawk are left to score still but, according to my unofficial numbers, it looks like it won't change anything in terms of cast placement at this point.
~ Oops...… Hawk is running and takes the 125 hit. Minus his pending tree points and delete his 100 strike points. Cast is still walking to Bo.
~ Plus up Bo! He had the coon.
They'll be finalizing the scorecard as soon as they get back to the trucks so we'd better wait to get the official final results to make sure we haven't missed anything before posting final scores. Hang on a minute.
FINAL SCORES:
APOLLO 200+ CW
BO 25+
HAWK 250-
CHILL 175+
Congratulations to Ashley Guthrie and John Strickland on their win with an outstanding hound National Grand Nite Champion Sun Down!
