Normally they are sized like your shirts for the summer months. If you plan on using it through the winter over sweat shirts then you should get it a size larger.

Got the Dans Dog Days Vest in today.
I like this Better than any I have owned. Plenty of pockets.
I wear a 2x in a shirt, so that's what I ordered, but have to say it's a little too big, it's big enough I probably can wear it overtop a coat/jacket fine.
It will work though. Glad I didn't order a 3x so I would be able to wear over a coat, it would have swallowed me.
