Smokey solo

Took my smokey pup for a solo hunt this morning. It was 22 degrees and windy so I wasn't expecting much. Pulled in where I was going to hunt and saw 3 does go into a laurel thicket. Turned smokey loose and he ran into the thicket and started barking. I moved into a position where I could see him come out so I could use the e collar on him. He never came out so I moved again and saw him stretched out on a tree barking. Tree was full of holes and started to call him off when I seen the squirrel. Shot it out to him and wrestled it away from him. Smokey went about 50 yards and treed again and I saw the squirrel run in a hole. The wind started picking up so we called it a day. Not to bad for a dog that still squats to pee
