Decorah Water Race and Field Trial

We will be having a water race and field trial next saturday the 27th in Decorah. We just got done getting the course and pond set up and everything's ready to go. There has been quit a few people calling interested so we should get a good turnout.

The hunt and show will be taking place at the fox and coon club in Decorah and the water race and field trial will be held out at Green's sugar bush. UKC would not let us list two separate locations for our event so the sign up and location to be before the deadline for everything will be in Decorah at the club house. As long as your signed up by the deadline in Decorah we will allow time for everyone to travel to the sugar bush. If you have any ??? about all that feel free to call and hopefully we won't have any problems.

Our hunt and show that night is also a redbone sectional with trophies for the high scoring redbone.

Upper Iowa CHA 2080 ST Hwy. 9, Decorah, IA 52101. At the NE IA Fox and Coon Club. Signs posted. Redbone Sectional. Contact Terry Goza (563) 380-7107

Apr 26 NH 2hr 8:00pm, $15

Won First tree at B+T days.

Its been 25 years since I had entered a dog in water race. My son Jack and I won first tree in final got beat on line by a black nose of a nice english hound. Had a blast as we regularly come to B+T days to watch. We ran a practice at home to see if we had anything that could even swim and he did ok but lost coon the first time. Second time came treeing out of water. I wish they would slow the event down a bit as even with my son we were pushed at how fast they ran the heats. For a person with leg problems it was a little to fast with help. I caught my dog and that was most important part for me and my sons loved it so much we went back there and swam the next friday. Same dog beat us on line and this time tree to, even though Mister Money Maker came treeing out of the water. My wife even went and watched Moo Moo. Plan on being at Illinois state water race and hunt. Hope to see you there!!

My last water race was a money race at paul Johnsons in mattoon years ago.

Oops, just noticed I had put this on last year's thread, so I'll put it on this one too....just to hopefully get things back on the right track.

Fun Water Race at Troy IA this past weekend! There were some awful close races.

A little update on Judy. ( OK, a little bragging on Judy )
Ch. Stonehill Blue Judge Judy is following in the footsteps of the great multi-talented Blueticks your kennel is known for !!!!!!! She started June with a measley 10 water race points which she won last year when she was still a pup. She won the race at Cole Camp a couple weeks ago, then at Higbee this weekend she won the line final Friday and Line+Tree final Saturday!!!!!!!!!!! She is now a DUAL champion !!!!!! ( Judge x Casey = great cross ), thanks again for my part of it !!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations Dennis for doing such a great job with Judy and representing our line of blues!!! She's the first WCh and first dual Ch from this litter, though I suspect she won't be the only one.
We'll be looking forward to hearing about her future accomplishments and titles.

There is lots of great pics ,vids,training tips,and other interesting things on the above two threads. If you are kind of new to the sport you can learn a lot and be entertained at the same time by watching them. ( thanks Calblu for the links )

I want to thank everybody who posts upcoming event reminders they really help.

I realize that nite hunts are the real backbone of UKC coonhound events, and that is as it should be. However, I think that the degree of good sportsmanship shown at nearly all FT's & WR's plus the good clean family fun makes them a very important part of the coonhound world. Especially so when it comes to bringing in new people and youth.

Anybody going to redbone days in Ohio I am heading out from NY on wed with my grwch plotting to try to beat the redbones last time I went to holmsville for plotting days a few years back it was a good water race

Looks like they had some decent numbers in the WRs and FTs at Redbone Days. If I'd have realized it was 3 days of both events I'd definitely have tried to go. Just wasn't paying attention to something that far away!

Anyone take any video of either event?
